i don't see any serious problem with his logic unless his SK read is sunfan (because he would've already softed that lazily)
however i believe it is scummier to raise general paranoia about someone without actually taking action like what you're doing right now

Very common for people to be right for the wrong reasons in this game. I'm probably the king of doing that.

Very rare for someone to be wrong for the right reasons. Using almost no information, he determined that the player in Marlboro's slot on d0 and the player in Marlboro's slot on d1 were not the same person, which is what you should look for in that situation.
