we can't do something like this if not everyone is on board. we've only heard from like 2 people.

also I decided I don't like this plan anymore. if Police enter one of those buildings, they run a high risk of dying. if Police don't enter those buildings, they can't seer anyone.

well we don't necessarily need a seering to happen night one if one of those houses burn down. We'll know they were a townie. That's just as good as a seering and plus we're keeping the specials safe night 1.

if no one else is on board then don't go to the houses I pointed out.

here's the best strategy I can think of

One building is announced publicly, and the Fireman is ordered to enter that building. Townsfolk and Police choose randomly between the remaining buildings.

        pros:
        + Fireman stays safe
+ Police have a reasonable chance to seer Townsfolk
+ Townsfolk and Police can all spread out

        cons:
        none lol

This strategy completely relies on compliance from the Fireman and from everyone else. If we want to incorporate this strategy, we should wait until Night 2 so we can be sure we are all on board.

Could y'all vote this idea up/down please? Justify your answer.

Exactly. One thing we have to be vigilant about is who's interests are being served by controlling and directing housing information. If we don't play the numbers right, we'll be losing multiple people a night with zero seer information coming from it.

I'm looking more towards this rule"
Townsfolk x6 - Each night, each townsfolk will choose any house to enter and stay over at. If the house burns down, then half of the humans (rounded down) will die.
If we assign 3 people to each house, randomly, and mix it up each night, the worst that can happen is that only 1 person dies. (3 divided by half is 1.5, rounded down to 1). This maximizes our mobility while marginalizing our vulnerability. It also protects fireman and police officers, as long as they only have 3 people total in their respective houses.

Does anyone see any flaws in this proposed idea?

I'm not sure, but I think it could be rounded to 2.

The host will have to clarify, of course.

it seems decent, but if the fireman comes out they will likely be roleblocked diminishing any protection so they certainly will not "stay safe"

It's just rounded up, in the instance of one fireman remaining I would assume.
                Dear sirs,
One of my checks was returned marked "insufficient funds".

In view of current events in the banking market, does that refer to me or to you?

3 civilians would make 1.5 rounded down to 1

Fireman doesn't come out in that instance, is just universally designated a building.

Then again that kind of eliminates the usefulness of the fireman, doesn't it? It lets the arsonists know which building to avoid completely.

yup. we would have to assign all 12 players to buildings, with 3 people in each building. the Arsonists would have slightly better than a (1 - (3/4 * 3/4)) = 44% chance to hit either the Fireman or one of the Police. yikes.

maybe I'm misunderstanding. how do you suppose the Fireman and Police would be protected?

truth. I think we basically run that risk no matter what.

you're right about the Arsonists knowing which building to avoid. however, I think this tactic would make the Fireman more useful.

with this strategy, the Fireman would stay alive. if the Fireman were in a building with any number of Townsfolk (and without Police), and if that building were torched, the Fireman would die. in nearly all early-game scenarios of this sort, the Fireman would have saved only one townie.

other than sacrificing to save Townsfolk, the Fireman power only activates when alone in a building that gets burned. the odds of this scenario occurring via random selection are pretty low. (haven't crunched the numbers lol.)
