FFR Mapus
Posted in Flash Flash Revolution on July 17th, 2008
Maldon hooked up the ole google maps API to our GeoIP database so that all the users on FFR can plot their locations across the world. Want to see how accurate it is? Simply Visit the FFR Mapus page and see for yourself. It will place a location pin for you automatically if you are logged in. Looky looky, us admins already have pin points.
*In addition.. If you find someone near you on the map, you can click on their name and it will take you directly to their profile.*
Cheers,
Synthlight

Posted at 8:40pm on July 17th, 2008
Apparently it doesn’t like IE7.
Posted at 8:40pm on July 17th, 2008
Apparently Synthlight lives basically an hour away from me…
Posted at 8:41pm on July 17th, 2008
And ROFL at sarahxjane for starting out the same word “Apparently.”
Posted at 8:41pm on July 17th, 2008
“Apparently Synthlight lives basically an hour away from me…”
same! and you live close to me too
Posted at 8:43pm on July 17th, 2008
Weird.
And I can’t get on using FF3 either.
Hmm.
I’ll restart or something.
Posted at 8:44pm on July 17th, 2008
It works fine for both IE7 and FF3 for me.
And crobins,
awesome
Posted at 8:46pm on July 17th, 2008
This is heaven for stalkers.
Posted at 8:47pm on July 17th, 2008
my location is wrong
Posted at 8:47pm on July 17th, 2008
It didn’t map me in the correct location >.>
Posted at 8:48pm on July 17th, 2008
Naperville/Aurora area is pretty big. Rofl, goodluck finding ole’ synth.
@ crobins: My friend lives in wakeasha or however you spell it, I’ve been up there a few times, amazing place.
Posted at 8:48pm on July 17th, 2008
guys, the location is based off your IP. if your ISP is lazy, then your location might be off. If you are on a wireless internet connection, like a laptop card, you will seem to jump around the map. The idea of this is to give you a general idea of the location.
Posted at 8:48pm on July 17th, 2008
Same here. I live in Kalkaska MI which is north of where I was placed.
But I like the idea
Posted at 8:49pm on July 17th, 2008
Oh I see.
Posted at 8:52pm on July 17th, 2008
Yay I located myself at Mifflin park.
Posted at 8:52pm on July 17th, 2008
Haha, cool. O:
Posted at 8:53pm on July 17th, 2008
Restarted.
Cleared all information in Firefox.
Still isn’t working in either browser.
Ah well.
Posted at 8:53pm on July 17th, 2008
Awesome.
Posted at 8:55pm on July 17th, 2008
Awesome!
Posted at 8:55pm on July 17th, 2008
kinda scary but its a hair off for me so ill enjoy…lol at the amount of people around me…0
Posted at 8:57pm on July 17th, 2008
I’m so glad that this is implemented. Great feature.
Posted at 8:57pm on July 17th, 2008
Aw now my thread is useless
Oh well this is still cool, thanks XD
Posted at 8:57pm on July 17th, 2008
lol, I jumped 5 or 6 miles down the road from me with my wireless card. O well, close enough. Sweet job Maldon.
Posted at 8:57pm on July 17th, 2008
It’s off by 20 miles for me.
Maybe it’s because I’m on my laptop in a different place?
Posted at 8:58pm on July 17th, 2008
1 person near me. I feel so lonely ;.;
Posted at 8:59pm on July 17th, 2008
doesn´t work for me. Maybe because I use Firefox..whatever.
Posted at 8:59pm on July 17th, 2008
The location database is mostly accurate within 25 miles.
Posted at 9:00pm on July 17th, 2008
never mind.
Posted at 9:00pm on July 17th, 2008
@Tyler Reece idk how to spell it either and yeah its a nice place, the map thing is off for me though =/ I live in West Allis.
Posted at 9:02pm on July 17th, 2008
i’m alone
and whats with everyone on the east side of the us
Posted at 9:03pm on July 17th, 2008
It kind of randomly placed me somewhere in Vermont. But I’m fine with people not knowing which town I’m in. =P
Posted at 9:04pm on July 17th, 2008
So, what happens when 1 million red pin points are scattered throughout the map. How will we find people’s names o.o
Posted at 9:06pm on July 17th, 2008
“So, what happens when 1 million red pin points are scattered throughout the map. How will we find people’s names o.o”
zoom in close to the area your looking for..?
Posted at 9:07pm on July 17th, 2008
I live near Synth!
Posted at 9:08pm on July 17th, 2008
how about map chat
Posted at 9:09pm on July 17th, 2008
That is still a bit difficult to find certain people. A search feature would be fun so we don’t have to click random points at least.
Posted at 9:11pm on July 17th, 2008
yea not working for me either… maybe me and Sarah, living near the falls has something to do with it..
Posted at 9:12pm on July 17th, 2008
Is this a late april fools joke? I want to place myself on this map :O
Posted at 9:12pm on July 17th, 2008
search feature would be nice I agree.
Posted at 9:13pm on July 17th, 2008
The link is broken here… >.<
Posted at 9:14pm on July 17th, 2008
And yeah. The accuracy isn’t great but who wants to have a million people know exactly where you live? I got put in Denver which is around an hour drive away
Posted at 9:14pm on July 17th, 2008
like sarahxjane it isnt loading for me on any browser
anyway great job on bringing a new feature to life MalDON may you do so on many more to come
Posted at 9:18pm on July 17th, 2008
Whoa..I live right next to Synth lol. I wish I lived in Naperville, lucky.
Posted at 9:25pm on July 17th, 2008
Just for the record, the location is within 5-10 miles of your actual location most of the time. This utility is not designed to give away your address but give others a general idea. You guys know how secretive I am and I have no problem plotting a pin on this map.
Cheers,
Synthlight
Posted at 9:26pm on July 17th, 2008
Yea thanks to the admins for not telling us what is going on with the link >_>
Posted at 9:28pm on July 17th, 2008
it placed me nearly 2-2 1/2 hours away from where i actually am.
Posted at 9:30pm on July 17th, 2008
does this not open in Mozilla Firefox 3?
Posted at 9:35pm on July 17th, 2008
I have the latest Firefox and it works. :/
Posted at 9:35pm on July 17th, 2008
This thing was almost scarily accurate. Mine was only about 2 streets away from my old and current locations.
Posted at 9:35pm on July 17th, 2008
I think there should be an option to allow members to be added, because some may not want to be listed.
Posted at 9:36pm on July 17th, 2008
Anyone in Canada able to use it?
I know heyitsmee isn’t in the USA.
Perhaps it hates non-Americans.
><
Posted at 9:39pm on July 17th, 2008
Don’t use the mirrors. The map will not load.
Posted at 9:42pm on July 17th, 2008
I logged into my friend’s account ‘x2bitx’ and viewed his name on the map, logged out and logged back into mines (I was just checking to see if it the name would change because of IP or something) but now I’m back in my account and it keeps saying ‘x2bitx’ instead of knuckles2224, and yes I cleared cache and opened up a new browser.
Posted at 9:42pm on July 17th, 2008
I’m on the main site.
Posted at 9:48pm on July 17th, 2008
i think it doesnt work for canadians, cuz it doesnt work for me either…
Posted at 9:51pm on July 17th, 2008
i’ve got the same problem. The page won’t load for me, though I’m using Safari >_< macs ugh!
Posted at 9:51pm on July 17th, 2008
Wow, awesome concept. Really good job, Mal.
But it plotted me 30 miles away from where I actually live : (
Posted at 9:52pm on July 17th, 2008
Woot, I’m the only FFRer on Nantucket
Posted at 9:52pm on July 17th, 2008
I’m also Canadian, and it doesn’t work
Posted at 9:53pm on July 17th, 2008
It may be accurate by 25 miles, but I’m pretty far off. Showing me in Hazelton PA instead of Wyoming PA.
Posted at 9:53pm on July 17th, 2008
must be canadians….hmmm a bug perhaps?
Posted at 9:57pm on July 17th, 2008
It’s now showing my name, thanks.
Posted at 9:58pm on July 17th, 2008
And now it’s not, it’s annoying and I hate it.
Posted at 9:58pm on July 17th, 2008
We don’t hate Canadians, or mac users. Hell, I’m a mac user. It works fine in FF3 and Safari 3. Make sure you have javascript turned on.
Posted at 10:00pm on July 17th, 2008
It’s all turned on, i never turn any of that off, wouldn’t have a clue how to…too used to my pc R.I.P pc. and i wasn’t saying it was a hate message on us (canadians & mac users)
Posted at 10:05pm on July 17th, 2008
I can’t help you guys unless I know what’s happening. By just saying it doesn’t work helps me none.
Posted at 10:05pm on July 17th, 2008
I am Canadian and it is not working.
Posted at 10:06pm on July 17th, 2008
Sheesh, I’m not x2bitx!
Posted at 10:11pm on July 17th, 2008
when i click FFR mapus link, it just loads a completely blank page and does not load anything , my java script is enabled too but it still doesnt work, i tried loading it in IE , Firefox, Avant, and also Safari, non of them seem to work…apparently it doesnt load for people in canada…? why is that ( im from canada too )
Posted at 10:12pm on July 17th, 2008
The map page loads absolutely nothing but a blank white screen for me, in FireFox 2. The page source is blank, as well. Internet Explorer 7 simply ‘cannot display the webpage’ as if it doesn’t exist.
Posted at 10:14pm on July 17th, 2008
Yep i’m Canadian 2 and it doest show the page
Posted at 10:14pm on July 17th, 2008
I’m not shadow2224 either! It’ll say all other names except knuckles2224
Posted at 10:16pm on July 17th, 2008
it is WRONG! I live like 25 miles southeast! BOO!!!
Posted at 10:21pm on July 17th, 2008
Well this sucks. I can’t find myself because I don’t have a static IP… This should go off of the location people actually put into it for this particular map.
Posted at 10:23pm on July 17th, 2008
Damn, only three people in the same state as me (Oregon), all up in the Portland area, and I don’t know who any of them are.
Lol. It’s actually pretty accurate for me, only about a mile’s walk from my house.
Posted at 10:25pm on July 17th, 2008
this needs to get fixed so people in canada may use it…. XD
Posted at 10:25pm on July 17th, 2008
rofl, right city, other then that it’s way off
Posted at 10:26pm on July 17th, 2008
My friend, Bunny Pants, logged onto his account on my computer and went to the map and it erased my name for his. Fix?
Posted at 10:36pm on July 17th, 2008
I click the link and it takes forever to load, when it does the title of the page is “failed to open page” it then on a blank screen go to tell me the error message of and i quote:
” Safari can’t open the page “http://www.flashflashrevolution.com/usermap/map.php†because the server unexpectedly dropped the connection, which sometimes occurs when the server is busy. You might be able to open the page later. “
Posted at 10:36pm on July 17th, 2008
Yes, I’m Canadian and it only loads a blank page.
Posted at 10:36pm on July 17th, 2008
Roy: Same thing happened to me.
Posted at 10:39pm on July 17th, 2008
LOL Cannot connect to internet, diagonse connection problems
Posted at 10:42pm on July 17th, 2008
I’m sorry, HORRIBLE idea. Not saying that FFR isn’t safe or anything. But I don’t believe that its 100% free of predators. I don’t people knowing where I live at the click of a link.
Posted at 10:45pm on July 17th, 2008
There’s plenty of people in Canada using the map. The reason we are not allowing users to plot themselves is to keep the information somewhat accurate. People without a doubt would lie and put themselves in the middle of the ocean, which completely ruins the idea of the map.
Posted at 10:52pm on July 17th, 2008
Not working for me. The net usually has access to my IP, and right now, mapus’s main page does not load, it simply remains white screen.
Posted at 10:53pm on July 17th, 2008
Yes i’m aware many people in Canada would be able to use the map now my next question and i don’t need specifics but for those people unable to use the map WHAT PART OF CANADA (OR THE WORLD) are you in?? Like say the state/province what-have-you
I personally am in Ontario
Posted at 11:01pm on July 17th, 2008
Cool!
Posted at 11:01pm on July 17th, 2008
The server is just taking too long to respond. There is a lot of data it has to load for each person who has visited the page. I will be doing performance tweaks over the next few days.
Posted at 11:02pm on July 17th, 2008
I am from Quebec (Sainte-Foy) stuck between the shopping malls and the good old Old Quebec
Posted at 11:02pm on July 17th, 2008
I am in BC and i cannot load or view the map….
Posted at 11:07pm on July 17th, 2008
Nice idea, but I don’t live in Manhattan.
I’m actually about 30 minutes or so east of Sprite (assuming his location is accurate).
Posted at 11:13pm on July 17th, 2008
Ok, I made a small tweak that should force the map to show.
Posted at 11:16pm on July 17th, 2008
This is neat. A little off like others have stated, but like it matters. Good enough.
I like it.
Posted at 11:37pm on July 17th, 2008
Rylan needs to learn how to read, as he mistakingly posted on the Angels and Airwaves Comment Board as such: The map thing has my location WRONG. WRONG I SAY!!! *rawr*
And I tried to fix it, but no, I still live in Portland. I live in Dallas, next to Salem, an hour away… fix meh. ><
Posted at 11:40pm on July 17th, 2008
My name is still overrun by Bunny Pants. :/
Posted at 11:41pm on July 17th, 2008
Everyone complaining: STFU
Nice pedo map. I’ve always wanted one.
Posted at 11:43pm on July 17th, 2008
This is utterly wrong. They put me IN a park that is somewhere in or around Union, NJ. I live in Randolph, NJ. The Mount Freedom Area…
Posted at 11:49pm on July 17th, 2008
Heh heh. Had my proxy on (as normal).
It logged me in and put me down as being in China. Ooops.
Turned it off, and it became relatively accurate. Put me about 30 miles north of where I really live, but closer than China.
Posted at 12:02am on July 18th, 2008
The map isn’t showing up for EAG, whom you love so dearly. The part where it’s supposed to show the map is blank but the writing, “You asked for it and now you got it. View where members of FFR get their groove on, and see who is near you,” appears. Walrus lover, please help your faithful servant out. I would greatly appreciate it.
Posted at 12:11am on July 18th, 2008
nothing is showing up :[
Posted at 12:11am on July 18th, 2008
It’s not working for me either.
In compliance with maldon’s earlier comment:
-everything under the sun is up to date
-ff3 and ie6 both don’t work
Oh and to be a little more setailed of what it looks like:
-the screen completely loads blank.
-the webpage title (the one that shows what you’re looking at)(ex. (for this page) FFR Mapus — flashFlashRevolution.com – Mozilla forefox) is the url for the website.
Posted at 12:40am on July 18th, 2008
Woot. It put me about half an hour away >.<
Posted at 12:53am on July 18th, 2008
Doesn’t work for me.
Australia, anyone?
Posted at 1:14am on July 18th, 2008
xD wrong island FFR Mapus. gg.
Posted at 1:22am on July 18th, 2008
About 5 miles off for me. Not too bad for a 25 mile accuracy radius I guess.
Posted at 1:55am on July 18th, 2008
This is kind of creepy. Hope stalkers don’t join this site now.:(
It’s right on for me.
Posted at 2:17am on July 18th, 2008
doesn’t work for me neither XD
Posted at 2:33am on July 18th, 2008
what the hell? what if I dont want people to know where I am?!?! There needs to be a way to hide yourself (or someone needs to tell me how)
Posted at 2:36am on July 18th, 2008
Ok my bad, it seems (after reading most of the comments) that it wont blow my location away any more then “P’cola, FL” will….so I guess to real gripes.

It’s over 60 miles off on me…Haha.
And you can see it pretty well with Firefox.
Posted at 8:29am on July 18th, 2008
Not working for me.
Posted at 8:47am on July 18th, 2008
I just keep getting “Safari can’t open the page.” or a blank screen in FF3 whenever I try it.
It looks like a cool idea though.
Posted at 8:56am on July 18th, 2008
not working for me. Everything loads but the Map.
Posted at 9:14am on July 18th, 2008
Heh.. Not even close. But, to be fair, it did get the city right.
Posted at 9:18am on July 18th, 2008
it doesn’t work for me.. i have IE7 and i click on the link and then i only see the words but nothing else shows up on the screen for this maps things
sadness to the extreme
Posted at 9:19am on July 18th, 2008
La dee da. I also get the blank screen of death but I’m sure you guys will figure what’s what and fix it in no time, flat!
I’m Canadian…hmm, I find it highly suspect that we’re the most vocal group of people who the map feature hates.
If there’s any Canadian out there that CAN see it, let us know so we know it’s not some loony Divine Manifesto crap FFR is subjugating us Canadians to.
Posted at 10:16am on July 18th, 2008
@shenlon It wouldn’t be so much FFR’s manifesto as Google’s because it is their software.
and i was placed only about 50 miles south of where i lived but i did find where i lived.
Posted at 10:23am on July 18th, 2008
Oh, its way off for me.
Posted at 10:24am on July 18th, 2008

Everyone’s having so much fun with this… it’s a shame I can’t get it to open up! X(
Posted at 11:04am on July 18th, 2008
can’t load it
Posted at 11:05am on July 18th, 2008
Hehehehe, well it got the city right, and when I zoomed in, I thought that it would have the streets right too.
It was a bit off.
This is an amazing feature though. Am I seriously the only mainstream Chicago player? That’s a bit sad.
Posted at 11:10am on July 18th, 2008
now it’s downloading a blank PHP file

blank here (ON, CA)
Posted at 6:42pm on July 18th, 2008
It was blank for me as well.
The title and url was there.
However, there was just a white screen of dispair.
Page source was completely blank ( obviously )
That is for Firefox.
IE said it couldn’t load the webpage.
Posted at 6:43pm on July 18th, 2008

Posted at 9:05pm on July 18th, 2008
Looks like only people in the US can see it. I’m in Canada, doesn’t work for me either.

Posted at 7:29pm on July 19th, 2008
Its a fucking consirpacy I tell you! America secretly hates Canada!
Posted at 8:15pm on July 19th, 2008
This is the most unsafe map ever.
Posted at 8:39pm on July 19th, 2008
Epically failing over here with this viewing of the map task… -_-’
Posted at 9:55pm on July 19th, 2008
It’s not a USA thing. There are other people, including myself, within the states that can’t view the map.
I get to the page, see the text written in, but big blank spots where the map is. Using IE.
Posted at 12:04am on July 20th, 2008
How may I take myself off of the map?
I am a little pissed off that FFR would do something so personally intrusive without warning, even if it is only hardly accurate. If there is no way to turn this feature off, I will be very upset.
Posted at 12:06am on July 20th, 2008
Sad.
Only 3 people live relatively close to me, at least according to the map.
]=
ALSO.
If you want to see the map, as far as I know, it doesn’t work in IE. Try it in FF.
Posted at 2:00am on July 20th, 2008

TAKE ME OFF OF THIS NOW.
Posted at 2:22am on July 20th, 2008
i agree with STD JaJa
we should have the right to choose if we want to be seen on the map or not… or this is just so very wrong on many levels…heh….
Posted at 3:30am on July 20th, 2008
Worked for me since first try. I use the Flock web browser. It uses the FF2 Engine because Flock has a deal with Mozilla. Also Flock is going to get the FF3 engine very soon. Through all of this, it works fine loading any page I come across, including this Map.
Posted at 3:34am on July 20th, 2008
P.S. being a Web Designer I use about 20 web browsers, both large and small. For me it works in the following web browsers below. The ones with Asterisks do NOT work with the map, that I know.
IE 6
IE 7
IE 8 (Beta)
*Songbird
*HeatSeek
Firefox 2
Firefox 3
Flock 1.2
Flock 2.0 (Beta)
Maxthon (U3 Edition)
Firefox (U3 Edition)
Opera
*Netscape (Yeah I know nobody uses Netscape anymore and was discontinue in Feb but what the hell.)
Posted at 4:34am on July 20th, 2008
Was using IE 6. Downloaded Firefox. It works now. =]
Posted at 6:35am on July 20th, 2008
doesnt work …. in IE & FF :/
Posted at 8:11am on July 20th, 2008
to bad it doesnt work
Posted at 8:42am on July 20th, 2008
i agree we should have the ability to choose if we want to be on the map. it’s a personal safety issue with people and people are afraid this could get more and more accurate and one day a random guy/girl shows up at their door. “hi i’m ______. You must be _______.” also STILL not working. really starting to bother me. I do want to see who all is around me because i live in a tiny ass little town and i want to see if any one on here lives even remotely close to me ^_^
Posted at 10:05am on July 20th, 2008
only white page
Posted at 10:42am on July 20th, 2008

Racist!
Posted at 2:22pm on July 20th, 2008
I’m from England and it won’t work for me either!
Posted at 2:23pm on July 20th, 2008
I’m mapped a few blocks away from my actual location.
And ROFL at all the down-voters.
I wonder what admin I live closest to.
Posted at 2:23pm on July 20th, 2008
By the way, try Apple Safari.
Posted at 2:56pm on July 20th, 2008
safari dun work haha
Posted at 3:09pm on July 20th, 2008
White page, no source. nothing. That’s on FF. On safari (which i downloaded just o try this) I just get a page error. IE can’t display the webpage either.
Werd man. I’m trying to think of what would make it so some people can view it and some can’t.. but nothing obvious comes to mind. x.x
Posted at 3:24pm on July 20th, 2008
Same problem for me! Living in canada and using FF3; I get nothing! I just load a blank page! ;p
Grrrr. ‘-_-
Technology is SO fickle!
Posted at 4:39pm on July 20th, 2008
I still have Firefox 1.5 and it works fine
Posted at 5:35pm on July 20th, 2008
Apple Safari 3.1 works fine for me. I dunno what’s with all you guys. No offense.
Posted at 5:36pm on July 20th, 2008
“If you are on a wireless internet connection, like a laptop card, you will seem to jump around the map.”
No wonder I’m off. I’m on my laptop.
Posted at 6:57pm on July 20th, 2008
double post much??
but argh this is now really pissing me off because i do want to see who all is in my area!
Posted at 6:48am on July 21st, 2008
Not working here.
Posted at 12:01pm on July 21st, 2008
this is probably the worst idea the team has come up with. they dont realize the potential danger that players could face if a person knows the whereabouts of the other.
Did you guys hear about the 15 year old gay kid that got shot in a school?
Theres some people out there that hate others. I dont think FFR should be doing this…
Posted at 2:17pm on July 21st, 2008
Well, let’s prove it.
I’m probably on the map right now.
I’m 16 and bi.
Anyone wanna shoot me?
P.S. What’s with all these downvoters?
Posted at 2:43pm on July 21st, 2008
There is no danger in knowing what city a user lives in. The only people that should be afraid are the ones that hand out their phone number. That can be traced to an exact address quite easily.
Posted at 3:27pm on July 21st, 2008
you can zoom out on google maps and find the area, and if you know the area well enough you could find out what the city is. or you could google map the stree…..
Posted at 8:36pm on July 21st, 2008
this is what i got:
Internet Explorer cannot display the webpage
Most likely causes:
You are not connected to the Internet.
The website is encountering problems.
There might be a typing error in the address.
What you can try:
Diagnose Connection Problems
More information
if its not working in places other than the US than thats racist to ppl who dont live in the US doesnt anyone else agree T_T
Posted at 10:49pm on July 21st, 2008
Won’t work for me, it’s blank =(
Posted at 11:08pm on July 21st, 2008
I just got a blank page
BUT
I really think is an unsafe idea
I agree with the comment on “choosing whether we wish to be displayed on the map or not”
I don’t want anyone knowing my location! It’s kind of scaring me actually, knowing anyone could find me. I don’t think this is a very good idea in the least bit. I don’t support this until that “choose if you’re displayed on the map or not” idea is placed into affect.
This really is unsafe. There are internet pedifiles ALL OVER THE PLACE and this is basically giving them places to target.
Posted at 11:22pm on July 21st, 2008
ALSO
FFR can get sued IF some stupid pedifile uses the map to find somebody and something happens [such as rape and kidnapping and whatnot].
so seriously, they clearly weren’t thinking at all when they set this up. And don’t they need some kind of consent from the users before doing something like this? it’s seriously wrong.
Posted at 11:42pm on July 21st, 2008
^agreed.
make it optional at least guys. some people wanna other people to know
their location, some dont. this is also like a privacy issue. sooo um
im kinda wanting that optional solution happening plllleeeeaasee
Posted at 2:03am on July 22nd, 2008
Going to repeat what I’ve said many times.
We are only showing publicly available information. Lots of people not in America have been able to use the map. Saying it’s “racist” just makes you sound ignorant. Before you bash the feature, actually use it. Anyone who has used it knows that it is not very accurate at all. It doesn’t point to your house. The only way some creepy person could hunt you down is if you talk to them, give them your name and address, and lots of reference pictures.
Also, a lawsuit over any of this would go no where. If you’re that afraid, step away from your computer right now, the internet is not for you.
Posted at 2:07am on July 22nd, 2008
And you can’t say you were not warned:
“Want to see how accurate it is? Simply Visit the FFR Mapus page and see for yourself. It will place a location pin for you automatically if you are logged in.”
Posted at 3:07am on July 22nd, 2008
Nice going, Mal.
Posted at 8:37am on July 22nd, 2008
the map wont show up for me:(
does any1know how 2 fix it cuz i wanna see other ppl near by me

Posted at 5:59pm on July 22nd, 2008
actually my real location is a little bit south east from where i’m pinned on the map. niiice.
Posted at 6:20pm on July 22nd, 2008
Why is it broken? White page in MF and “Page cannot be displayed” in IE… Could we get this fixed plzzzzzzzz?
Posted at 8:02pm on July 22nd, 2008
cant get the map to work, and i’m also from canada..
Posted at 8:22pm on July 22nd, 2008
“Want to see how accurate it is? Simply Visit the FFR Mapus page and see for yourself. It will place a location pin for you automatically if you are logged in.â€
lol that’s not being warned. I’m talking about before you even set the feature up. Some people just don’t want their location disclosed. Period. There’s no argument for that.
Posted at 9:01pm on July 22nd, 2008
That’s a pretty clear warning of what the feature does. So shut up complaining.
Posted at 9:20pm on July 22nd, 2008
Ok, enough of the arguing. The map will get privacy options.
This is how it will be setup:
If you are not on the map, you will be added when you view the page. You can remove yourself from the map, but you must never view the page again. Otherwise you will show up on the map.
This is a fair trade off.
Posted at 10:53pm on July 22nd, 2008
Propose credit compensations for those who can’t view the map.
Posted at 6:42am on July 23rd, 2008
or just a solution lol
Posted at 1:28pm on July 23rd, 2008
why are people afraid of this…for the love of got it can throw you 10-15 miles off of where you actualy are.
unlike google earth i’ve seen my friends address pin pointed on that map not to mention mine
Posted at 1:37pm on July 23rd, 2008
hmmm seems like i lied…..google must have put up privacy things on it now….lmao it runs ON google XD
Posted at 2:06pm on July 23rd, 2008
My map doesn’t work, why?
Posted at 12:05am on July 24th, 2008
Kamloops, BC, Canada. Unable as well. (:
Posted at 2:17am on July 24th, 2008
Why so many people bitchin’ about this? And why all the commotion too, I mean you give away your photos and your friends photos, your personal info amongst others things to some random people you met online which you call “friends”. And isn’t it a little bit unfair that you don’t wanna let other people see YOU, but YOU can still see NOT VERY ACCURATELY them? Bullshit. This feaute = cool, if it were able to work for more people it would be even cooler.
Posted at 7:37am on July 24th, 2008
fun but not off by some, lol i noticed lefty righty 100 miles away even though he used to live four houses down from me and is like now, a few blocks?
Posted at 10:13am on July 24th, 2008
I think it only works for Americans >:(

Posted at 9:50pm on July 25th, 2008
I use IE6 and can’t get it to work either. Realized that the privacy report was blocking the cookies, so I unblocked them, but it still wouldn’t load.
Posted at 2:01am on July 26th, 2008
Something tells me this isn’t a good idea, even with the privacy options.
Posted at 5:10am on July 26th, 2008
im using IE and i cant see it? lame
Posted at 12:37pm on July 26th, 2008

Random post.
Posted at 4:43pm on July 27th, 2008
Lol sj.
How do we fix the canada situation Mal? You can’t really replicate the problem, so I dont know.
Posted at 4:49pm on July 27th, 2008
I got the map page to show up while I was browsing with a proxy.
Posted at 5:17pm on July 27th, 2008
maldon is awesome and he showed us the walrus with the bucket what will he do next to amaze us even more!!:D
Posted at 5:19pm on July 27th, 2008
If you live in Canada, the only way I know how to view this page is to use a proxy, like TwilightPrincess mentioned.
Posted at 2:32am on July 28th, 2008
Hehe I don’t know where I live. :}
Posted at 10:15am on July 28th, 2008
i find it impossible to believe there is no one out there with a solution for this
we already have a clear view that it has something to do with the IPs when you use a US proxy the map works
i bet someone in a google map development community would probably know this issue
Posted at 11:49am on July 28th, 2008
i cant see the map but i can get to the page. som text in the middle of the page comes out but it jus stays blank
Posted at 11:53am on July 28th, 2008
yea my location is off
but its pretty close
Posted at 12:15pm on July 28th, 2008
“when you use a US proxy the map works”
I tried 4 different proxys last night, and couldn’t get any of them to show the map.
Posted at 2:55pm on July 28th, 2008
@heyitsmee
You’re wrong. There’s something else causing the maps to get goofy. If has nothing to do with proxies or any of that sort. Because there are plenty of people who have accessed the map outside of the united states, we can rule out that the map only works for the united states.
Posted at 4:18pm on July 28th, 2008
Hey MaI, I totally agree with you on everything and I don’t see why people should get mad with this feature, they still have FlashFlashRevolution to play. And everyone who is getting scared or joking about predators, there is about a 2 million out of 1 chance that they will come to your house because there are a lot of users out there who are on this site. I hope everyone realizes this is FFR, not a war.
Posted at 4:42pm on July 29th, 2008
Yeah idk ive tryed tons to get this to work and it still wont come up for me…….. Oh well i guess
Posted at 8:05pm on July 29th, 2008
i am getting first
Posted at 12:52am on August 1st, 2008
My computer and browser (FF3) are pretty much as fresh as you can get. I reformatted yesterday, checked my email, shut down. turned my computer on, checked email again, went on FFR, tried to view map (with javascript on), and it doesn’t work. (I live in Canada)
I’m going with the idea that it’s certain ISPs that don’t work, and their corresponding proxies. There might be something common to most ISPs in the USA, but for some reason is not present with most ISPs outside of the USA. That’d be my guess. But don’t take me too seriously, it’s just a theory from someone who has no expertise or experience in the area whatsoever.
Posted at 11:06am on August 1st, 2008
It still is strange how most people in the U.S. get to view and not many people in Canada…
It could be the ISPs, but still, it’s strange and doesn’t seem fair to most people.
Posted at 8:36pm on August 3rd, 2008
This is pretty cool, I like it!
Posted at 8:07am on August 5th, 2008
>_< doesnt work for me… i dont really wanna know where the ppls live anyway O_O

Posted at 7:42am on August 12th, 2008
you should make this available to canadians.
Posted at 5:55pm on August 27th, 2008
This is racist, Canadians should be able to use it. =P
