    TWG XXXII - Game over (Wolves win)

    As you know, I'm meeting with the other senior staff of FFR this weekend, so don't expect a great story for a few days.

        If the statue's found, we don't know that it is unless we also happened to dig at the same spot, correct?

          Correct.

          In addition, I'm not sending out PMs that say that you didn't find the statue. If morning comes around and you didn't get a statue-related PM, you didn't find it.

              Also, could you clarify auto-protects? It just says that you "say" that you're going to auto-protect someone and then it happens... does that mean posted publically or in a pm (I know to remove an auto-protect requires a pm)? And if it is pm'd then I assume that we won't know who is auto-protected or not?

              Hmm I thought I had another question. maybe it will come to me.

                Example of an autoprotect:

                1. X finds the staute.
                2. X wants to hand it to Y at the very last minute if Y gets lynched, but X doesn't want to stay online and wait for the very last minute
                3. X sends a PM to the host saying "I want to autoprotect Y."
                4. Y gets lynched while X is offline. The host treats it as if X handed the statue to Y at the last minute.
                5. Y gets the statue's protection, gets saved from the lynch, and gets to pick who gets lynched instead. (Y can even pick X if he wants.)
                6. Statue crumbles from being used.

                EDIT:
                -X can autoprotect as many people as he wants.
                -If X wants to "remove" an autoprotect, he just sends a PM to the host indicating his wishes. If X removes his autoprotect on Y, then if Y gets lynched, he doesn't get the statue's protection.

                  Alright, I thought it was private.

                  well now that that's out of the way... uh I don't think there are any really good blue strategies or statue related strategies out there. I would say to come out if you found the statue (not to be an alliance leader or anything, of course), but it's too easily faked to mean anything. Seer can't and shouldn't come out, of course as there's no guardian (presumably the same reason tass was targeted). This game is going to be pretty old school... probably going to be a lot of wolves killing off power players and lynching of weaker players while the seer tries to make a behind the scenes alliance.

                      This doesn't have to be a behind-the-scenes game if we know what we're doing. Let's see what we can do with what we have at this point.

                      I did think of doing something with the digs... revealing and coordinating numbers so we can have a greater chance of finding the statue before the wolves do. By proportion, humans have a 5:1 ratio over the wolves in finding the statue if we coordinate our numbers. At this point, it's a lot better for the humans to cooperate, because the wolves are probably conferring and coordinating their digs too, ultimately giving them an edge. Of course, the complication here is if the channeler is/will be dead, in which case there is no way the statue-holder can come forward safely. Still, better to have a greater chance of getting the statue, right?

                      I encourage anyone to try to find flaws. If we can't, I suggest we move forward with this.

                        I thought of that too... it's obviously a huge double-edged sword though. Chances are that yes, humans would have a better shot at somehow ending up with the statue, but these chances would fade significantly as the game goes on and numbers even out.

                        The only real problem with it is what you point out: what does it gain? The fact that the channeler might or might not be dead when the statue is found is somewhat irrelevant, as the wolves wouldn't know either and would have to respect that (unless they were feeling risky). The real problem is that I don't think having the statue holder out in public actually benefits us much. Could the seer trust that the statue holder was telling the truth? Or even if the holder was telling the truth, could the seer know that they were human? If a wolf finds it, he autoprotects his team and would have the master come out... so there'd be no verification that way (ie by seering at night) either.

                        I don't think the statue-holder can be a viable front man... hence why it will probably have to be behind the scenes at this point.

                          But, the statueholder doesn't have to be public. I kind of implied that, but it's not really what I meant. It gives a greater chance of getting the statue regardless. I mean, we don't really have much else to work with, so I figured anything that can help us get an edge is definitely better than a stale day. Also, even if the statue isn't found later on, the humans can double up in undug spots so there's less of a chance that the wolves will get the statue. Poking in the dark is much less effective.

                          At some point, at least we'll KNOW that SOMEBODY has the statue. And, the odds are in favor of it being in the hands of a human. I mean, today, it's 5:1. Worst case scenario, it'll be 4.33:1 tomorrow. Definitely not a disadvantageous strategy.

                              nforcer, I'm sure you realize that doing that would make it STUPIDLY easier for the wolves to find it. Instead of having the 3 team members to get numbers from, they'd have EVERY player in the game. And the benefit isn't there so much for humans either, because the wolves could just lie and say numbers that they hadn't checked, or ones that chardish had recently revealed. Bescause of this, humans wouldn't be able to fully trust it, but the wolves would be given a huge wealth of information.

                              Honestly, this is the type of thing I'd expect from Tass as a wolf. I'd hope most of you wouldn't be so silly.
