I'll see how this turns out. Needless to say, if this doesn't go through, I'll be disappointed.

            Re: R^n: Shifting Paradigms

Disappointing indeed. I just hope that people can still make creative sims. Although we all must remember a good old stream (that actually goes with the music), can be fun every once in a while. This isn't about throwing triplets anf freeze arrows into songs with tempo changes every beat. This is about originality and making fun files.

My biggest question is; why can't this continue without Aperson? Can't someone else take his place? Why shouldn't we get a pack because he's been banned? For goodness sake this could even be moved to a different forum where he's not banned. Anything to get this pack rolling. It doesn't seem like being banned should stop the production of this pack, and I'm worried that without this pack we won't see a change in the average sim.

It's nothing personal against any creator, it's just a statement that the average file is a steady 16th stream (ala quasar, OML, etc.). I don't see any creativity in keyboard files. I can't make them, but I don't think the average simfile creator can, either. A file can be solid and follow the music, but still may not be fun. Stepmania shouldn't be about hitting one big 16th stream, (IMHO) it should be moreso about a creative interpretation of music translated into a 4-arrow format. This is difficult, if not near impossible [Capturing the essence of a musical piece in 4 arrows]. I'm not even going to start about the limits of complexity regarding SM, but it is an issue when trying to do something truly original and sophisticated. My 2 cents.
You're pretty on the ball there, but that's so out of place it's not even funny. What makes you suddenly think that most of us don't get it? You haven't seen anyone's planned submissions for the pack. Besides, it's being called off.

By the way, get the **** off ipatch's old avatar.

                Re: R^n: Shifting Paradigms

the main reason this struggles without ap is that you lose a trusted arbiter for what's original and what's not.

                  Re: R^n: Shifting Paradigms

There's plenty of people who could determine that. Not to mention that he could still do it without access to this forum (or at least the ability to post in this forum). I'm just saying him being banned isn't the end-all of this pack unless he has decided that he won't do it. Submissions were supposed to be over AIM anyways, [sarcasm]and I don't think an FFR mod can ban someone from AIM.[/sarcasm]

I really don't want to see this die.

                    Re: R^n: Shifting Paradigms

Still curious as to why he's calling it off- granted, FFR is (from what he says) his most trusted community... like somebody else said, move it somewhere else. A lot of people are already aware of this pack, and even if now not advertised on FFR, I think we all agree it would still be a huge success.

BTW, Danceguy117, way to take something heartfelt and twist it into something of... a negative nature (even if you're right).

                          Re: R^n: Shifting Paradigms

hey guys im going to be creative and work hard on this sim itll be original

okay im done that was hard, but man i think its good.

now ill submit it to someone else because judging my creativity is obviously the role of someone other than me

look you stupid guys, who gives a crap if ap is banned, or isnt running this, or whatever. i wouldnt give a **** if arch0wl rated biaxident a 5/10, i would still love the file for everything it did for me.

this whole "originality" is at once heartening and disappointing. its great to see people start to think for themselves, and maybe try something new. but its also horrible to see how such a great idea morphs into a disgusting mutation of a "generic" pack where everyone just submits what they have to one arbiter and they are the be all and end all.

look. what im trying to say is, originality is good. so is concerted effort. what is not good is bandwagoning and not thinking for youself. just because originality is good does not mean everyone needs to be so non-comformist that non-comformity is the new conformity.

Wow, you're an idiot. That's me in the avatar. You can ask just about anyone. You should really do your homework before starting baseless allegations like this. Not only that, but you begin to play the rebellion card by attacking an observation that you apparently don't understand the validity behind. How annoying.
