But that's not why - flammable means "capable of bursting into flames", or thereabout - inflammable means "capable of becoming inflamed". In this case the "in" prefix is used not as a negative but rather as a intensifying "in" - see Answers.com's entries on in and en.

"could care less" is simply incorrect, whereas "inflammable" is perfectly acceptable, and in fact makes more sense than "flammable" in many cases.
