Posted in Flash Flash Revolution, Tournament on November 17th, 200620 Comments »

After eight long weeks of tournament play, the Official 2006 FFR R1 Tournament is finally over. After many tough matches, the winners from each division are:

Expert ($100):
Bahamut-X

Advanced ($80):
Akorn

Beginner ($70):
HansSky

Congratulations to all three of you for victory–PM me with your PayPal address to get your prize money.

Expect another tournament at some point in the coming months…and next time, I promise that signups will last for more than 12 hours. ;)

NOTE:

Also, you might have noticed some minor changes to a few songs in the game recently — some maintenance is being done on some of the songs to improve their sync, and fix noteskin glitches. Nothing fundamental about the songs will change though, don’t worry.

Happy FFR’ing,

Shashakiro

Song of the Week: Sensorium

Posted in Flash Flash Revolution, Song of the Week on November 13th, 200625 Comments »

Well, it’s Monday, which means it’s time for another Song of the Week! This week we give you Sensorium, by MerKa. Stepped by Jimerax, it’s a relatively slow song (under 140 BPM), but makes up for this with plenty of 16th stream and jumpstream, so it’s still a challenge. Sensorium can be found on the first page of Dance.

Happy FFR’ing,

Shashakiro

Server Updates

Posted in Uncategorized on November 10th, 200613 Comments »

Tonight we are changing a few scripts and game elements in order to accomodate the recent increase in activity on the site. You may notice the game taken offline in small chunks lasting a few minutes. Please be patient while we make these updates as they will allow the site to run smoother and allow us to activate new features in the near future…

Song of the Week Players Matched Up

Posted in FFR News, Song of the Week on November 7th, 200640 Comments »

As many of you may know, the FFR players have been playing this week’s Song of the Week – 20031023 hard and heavy. As a result, many of the competitors are now tied for the top spot of high score. The current Top 10 for 20031023 tells the tale as it were:

1 – dAnceguy117 – 1734450
2 – Shashakiro – 1734450
3 – Bahamut-X – 1734450
4 – scottish – 1734450
5 – Dynam0 – 1734175
6 – Lokfable – 1733900
7 – Loyal2Death – 1733900
8 – Exag0n – 1733625
9 – argo15 – 1733625
10 – Breach – 1733625

Often times it may seem that we focus in on only a few of our top players. However, n3v3rl4nd pointed out that it would be a good idea if we make an effort to mention other top players at FFR and put their names up in lights.

We generally do our best to listen to your suggestions. Always feel free to comment and give us feedback. We will do our best to make sure that your ideas are taken into consideration for future enhancements.

As promised,

Jason Key and the Advil Junkies

Song of the Week – 20031023 By DJ Sharpnel

Posted in Song of the Week on November 6th, 200644 Comments »

As was mentioned, Shash & I (Tass) now have access to quickly upload new Songs of the Week. After a minor glitch this morning, we present you another excellent song from the collection of DJ Sharpnel (NSFW warning). 20031023 is upbeat and will prove to be a challenge to most players, although it is by far the easiest Sharpnel song on FFR. Stepped by Rebirth0, it is extremely fun and accurate to the song. You can find 20031023 on page 1 of Dance.

Note: Feel free to discuss in the forum as well – SotW – 20031023. (jk)

Have fun and happy finger dancing!

SpinItUP! Hello? Remember Me? Help is on the Way!

Spin It Up in game screenshot

Quite a few tools were written this week that allow our level admins (Shashakiro & Tass) to modify and or add levels. This means these admins no longer have to sit around and wait for me and my lengthy conversion process to finish up over the course of a few days. Instead they can convert, compile and insert rather quickly all by themselves.

One of these tools is a level inserter for SpinItUP. The result of our testing is a new level for SpinItUP and hopefully numerous new levels from Shashakiro once he catches wind about this. ;)

The new song in SpinItUP is 8-bit Eighties Mario Remix by Starla PeaceCraft. Known as one of the easier levels on FFR, again it is one of the easiest on SpinItUP.

Hahah! I already have a 97%+ score! Enjoy

Any questions, thoughts or brags hit the SpinItUP Forum.

FFR Song of the Week

Posted in Uncategorized on November 2nd, 200641 Comments »

This week we finally introduce something new for the arcade genre. Yes… A Tetris Remix song. We figured it was time we pay respect to the great Alexey Pazhitnov and what he has done for video games. KGZ created the remix from scratch and away went Dore on the steps. This is a fairly simple level for moderate players (difficulty 8).

Enjoy!
