The Best of the Best: The Active Top FFR Players

Posted in Flash Flash Revolution on November 23rd, 200629 Comments »

Howdy there! Scottish’ here, to present to you something different tonight.
You all have probably seen the thread entitled “Updated FFR Top Players list” in FFR General Talk, which is a thread that allowed people to be ranked depending on skill, not just overall score.

After realizing that the thread was obsolete and disorganized, Jimerax and I, along with others, came up with a new system that is more reliable and will allow us to rank users according to an entirely new system. The process of going through the old thread, looking over all of the ranked players, and re-ranking them according to this system will be long and tedious, so please be patient as we are trying our best to get it done.

The thread can be found here. It is currently being revised and added on to, so expect it to be a little disorganized for now. After everything is put together, you can expect it to be another “Official” ranking system. Onto another issue, the thread is there for you, the users. If you feel like you meet the requirements to make the list, post in the thread asking to be added, dont be shy ;) . We want to make the top players known, not hidden. Other than that, I think I covered almost all of it. Feel free to make comments or suggestions in that thread, they are always appreciated.

Toodles,

Scottish.

The Turkey God’s Secret: Kick Your A

Posted in Flash Flash Revolution, Song of the Week on November 23rd, 200636 Comments »

As Tass hinted at this past Monday, the Turkey God has unveiled a special secret today–specifically, a new song in the Secret section of FFR, stepped by yours truly. Those of you who have 15,000 credits can now play Kick Your A, an SGX remix of the DDR song “A”. SGX has been graciously letting us use his awesome music from the start, and to him we are thankful–he has more songs on FFR than any other artist. Check out his music at his site here.

Also, note that this isn’t a Song of the Week, and there will still be one out next Monday–don’t worry.

Happy turkey consuming,

Shashakiro

Thanks (for) Giving (us the radio back)

Over the last few days we have set all kinds of server records. Yesterday we had nearly 300,000 gameplays of FFR alone. As a result of our increased traffic, we have been throttling certain features and re-coding or re-organizing others. One of the temporary casualties was our FFR Radio service and it’s 5 channels. You will all be happy to know that the radio is back in operation. You may stream your music again on one of the available channels or at the very least listen to the FFR dance radio playlist during a calm meal with your great grandmother and her cat.

Happy Thanksgiving everyone. Enjoy the holiday and thank you for your continued support on FFR.

Oh yeah, the radio can be found by clicking this link.

Cheers,

Tonight we changed the internal structure of the avatars within the forum and profiles. As a result you may not see your own avatar within profiles until we adapt the code to work with the new structure. Nothing is broken, just in a state of development.

Song of the Week: Norgers

Posted in Song of the Week on November 20th, 200659 Comments »

I don’t understand how it took this long to finally get a djshox song into FFR, but it has finally happened. Stepped by xObserveRx, Norgers is a fairly simple song that reminds me a bit of the 80s. You can find it in the Dance genre, lower left hand corner of page 1.

In other news, Shashakiro has been hard at work re-syncing songs and fixing the dreaded red-note syndrome. Excited Hyper Highspeed Star and Balloon Fever received noteskin upgrades, while songs like Wish and others have had their syncing tweaked. Expect this to continue until all of the noteskinned songs are fixed. Do NOT expect any of the old non-noteskinned blue arrowed songs to be fixed in any way.

If you’d like to comment about Norgers, go here. If you’d like to show off your insane FFR skills and brag about your score on Norgers, go here.

Happy finger dancing,

Tasselfoot & his new buddies from North Stafford

PS – The Turkey God may have a special secret for everyone come Thanksgiving.

Server Upgrade This Afternoon

Posted in Flash Flash Revolution on November 17th, 200648 Comments »

Site and Server Stable – Still Waiting for an upgraded license that runs a component of FFR Multi-Player

Jason Key

*EDIT SYNTHLIGHT* – We are back from the datacenter with a new raid installed to alleviate some of the pain during our record breaking week. We had almost 1700 people online at the same time earlier today. The new drives have brought our system load down considerably but we are still waiting for that license so that we can update our multiplayer. This may take awhile so please be patient. Until then you can play normal single player and it should work just fine.

Cheers,
