TWG CV SIGNUPS: Christmas in the Clink

    Prisoner's Dilemma

Prisoner's dilemma: each twilight, you will be randomly paired off and you must decide whether to betray or trust.

If you both trust each other, you each have a 50% chance of getting a power.

If you both betray each other you recieve no powers.

If one person betrays and the other trusts, the betrayer recieves a major power, and the truster gets nothing.

If there is an odd number, one person will be randomly left out, and there is a 50% chance that they will retain their previous power.

There are day powers and night powers. If you talk about a day power in thread during the day that it is active, you lose your power. Since night powers have already been used by the time the day starts, they are always fair game. If you say more than "i have a day power" in the thread, you risk losing your power. If you lose your power, i will notify you via PM.

Prisoner's dilemma happens Twilight, powers come into effect immediately.

    Game has a twilight start.

No talking outside of thread during day or twilight for anyone. Wolves and other roles who have permission may talk outside the thread during night phase.

The game will be 1/4 wolves, maximum 24 players.

signups will have three cutoffs, 16, 20, and 24. any players that sign up after the cutoff will be alternates, unless we reach the next one.

in but seriously, we need voter registration for signups or some ish. Too easy to get run over by hype wagons. You saw how good that did last game.

Voter registrations: maybe not an actual centralized registration, but some kind of process that makes people think about their participation in host signups as a voter, and perhaps a host as well. IMO the current system is messy, gives little incentive for prospective hosts to think in depth about their games, gives even less incentive for prospective players to do so, and is hardly democratic.

By "hype wagons", I mean when tons of people jump on a posted game because it has a cool story, or is full of shinies, or has whatever other superficial appeal, without actually looking at the game and thinking critically about it. This can be bad for the players when they vote in a setup that turns out to have major issues down the road, but it's perfectly allowable under the current system, and thus people think it's acceptable.

Remember last game when YoshL posted his setup and everyone was like ZOMG FFR TOURNAMENTZ LOLZ and pounced on it? Remember how that game turned out to be terribly stacked in the humans' favor? Remember how the only way the wolves won was through everyone else running out of fucks to give? That's what I mean.

Right away I can think of a very simple system to make things better, but I'm too hungry to typethink right now. Off to foodland.

Brill, I think the issue was after the holidays, the remaining humans pretty much went AFK. It only became humanly overpowered after sunfan and i fucked up and had the alliance day 1.

                        oh, also in

BDN: it seems to me like you're making the argument that too many voters in the host signup threads don't understand all of the intricacies of what they're voting for and the resulting effects. if that's right, I would think you would be arguing in favor of a less democratic process, not a more democratic one.

Xiz: nah, I think that setup was pretty broken
