Night always comes before day. In games with a day start they start d0. With a night start they start night 1 into d1

it makes sense because having that kill gives you something to analyze at the start of the game rather than starting off with nothing

A cycle of night/day share a number. You can't have n0 because it needs to share a numeral with the following day, and having a day 0 after a night 0 makes no sense.
