Sadly Squeek, you do come off as fanboy-ish. You say you don't want people to waste money on the PS3 because according to you it's a decision they may regret. That's not your place to say. I know plenty of people who have said they regretted buying the Wii and a few have even put their Wiis on Craigslist so they could get money or trade them with someone for a PS3 or 360 (mainly a PS3). The only thing you can honestly do is give the facts about a console and nothing more. Your biased attitude towards Sony over other matters is not fact, only opinion.

It doesn't matter if Squeek hates Sony. The PS3 is the worst choice of this generation. All of it's best games are also available for 360 or PC or both, and the PS3 hits the wallet harder than either of the other consoles. And really, the PS2 was amazing-- I would venture to guess that even with Squeek's hatred of Sony, he would admit that the PS2 was and still is amazing.

Misuse of anecdotal evidence is a logical fallacy and is sometimes informally referred to as the "person who" fallacy ("I know a person who..."; "I know of a case where..." etc. Compare with hasty generalization). Anecdotal evidence is not necessarily typical; statistical evidence can more accurately determine how typical something is.

And the only quantitative evidence to anything would say that the Wii is the best console. Although, I suppose you could say "the PS3's specs are better so it's a better console," but hopefully I don't have to blatantly point out that that would be a fallacy as well.

ps i seriously know like 72 people who bought a ps3 and regretted it so they put it on craigslist so that they could get a wii 8)

Wii has a very solid lineup of good games already + motion control, 360 has the best online, easily.

I'm actually probably going to pick up a Wii for myself after Christmas, to be completely honest.

EDIT: Actually, the online functionality for the PS3 has worked a lot better for me than the Xbox. At least, for me it has. My PS3 came with a WiFi card installed, plus I don't have to pay anything to play games online.

Considering they're still sold out every week and that the holiday season extends into January, you're in for a rough time. Make some friends at a local retail store who can hold a box for you.

What makes it worse is that the high hype for the console continues well into Summer of '08. Super Smash Brawl, Mario Kart, and Wii Fit are all staggered releases. But this is Wii. People were waiting outside stores all night even when there weren't fresh games coming out on it.

Oh PS, as Afro said, I do have a PS2. I didn't want one because of its failure rate (not only did I hear about it with the lawsuits and all, I've fixed dozens of them for friends), but then Namco-Bandai decided Tales of the Abyss would work best on the PS2 for whatever reason. Maybe it just couldn't fit on a Gamecube disc like Tales of Symphonia did. Oh well. I bought a used PS2 for that one game. Turns out I could get a better deal if I ordered a PS2 from eBay bundled with some games, so the person I bought it from also included the three Ratchet and Clank games, Dark Cloud 2, and Star Ocean 3. Those two RPGs sucked, but the first two Ratchet & Clank games were fun. I ordered Tales and both Katamari games, then Odin Sphere and Disgaea, and finally God of War, Devil May Cry 3, and Shadow of the Colossus cheap at Best Buy. I still only ever extensively played Tales of the Abyss, Katamari, and Disgaea among all of those games.

I admit the PS2 had a huge library, but I still use the same argument I made many, many years before when I was saying it wasn't a worthwhile console. It may have a huge library, but how many of those games are solid titles? The Gamecube had a rather small library, yet a ton of the games were instant classics.

And I found out while playing some of the PS2 games that, while I am already nearing 22 years old here, I still don't like gory games. Blood should be used sparingly and appropriately.

Looking at the sales charts in NOM, Wii has been at the top for a few months now, and since the Wii was released, DS sales have jumped as well.

The current order is:

Wii
DS
Xbox360

PSP
(Gamecube) <-- Sales of the Gamecube are actually higher than PS2 in Japan
Playstation 2
PS3

I'm not sure, but running from memory, I think that's how it goes.

Nintendo must be doing something right if the Wii has been sold out for the last year =l

Also, LoZ:Twilight Princess was the most amazing game since Ocarina of Time.

Way ahead of you. I'm not a dumbass. I didn't have a reserve of GH3 at the GameStop I go to, but what do you know, they happened to keep one in the back for me. And a sold out Foreman Grill last Christmas at Wal-Mart.

I don't get why everyone thinks Squeek is a fanboy. Its not like every game he likes is a Nintendo game for christ sake. Bashing other games does not automatically make you a fanboy. Bashing every single game thats not made by Nintendo, Valve or some other game maker just for the fact it was not made by them; Now I would consider that to be a fanboy.

Still opinion. Pricier than other consoles? Yes. Few exclusives at the moment? Yes. Whatever way you see it, the choices people make are due to their opinion and personal preference coupled with facts. Had the 360 not be so faulty, I might have made a decision to purchase one. That's fact. I dislike Microsoft as a video game company and wouldn't buy any of their products. That's an opinion.

Well Fire Emblem is not overhyped like Halo is, so I'm pretty sure that has something to do with it.

I myself don't like Fire Emblem, but I don't hear people hailing it as one of the best games of all time. Halo on the other hand is and its not really that great of a game in my opinion, so it erks me when people act like its so great and I usually end up "bashing" it a lot.

Exactly. I dunno. My brother and I look at it like an "Apple vs. Microsoft" war and we've always like the Apple part. The 360 had some faults, but I can't deny that the PS3 did too. It's not that I like the PS3 because my brother and I consider it "the Apple" console, I like it because I just do. The games that I like as MY OPINION look amazing on it TO ME, and I could care less about the cost. I WANT A GOOD CONSOLE that I pick based off MY OPINIONS, but I don't mind hearing what other people have to say about it. Freedom of speech.
