Oh my god, this is so correct. Totally ****ing awkward to hit, and then you have what Megamon was dealing with...I'm guessing it was that one Synth-esque irregular jack.

I agree with it being a high 9, though. It's like the love child of Gym Leader RBY (repetitive patterns requiring concentration) and Forsaken Neon (raw speed), and those are both high 9.

What needs to happen if we're staying on a 13 scale is stuff needs to be shifted into the 13s already, which in turn is going to cause problems because really nothing's comparable to RATO, but at the same time it would kill off a lot of the borderline issues everywhere else.

Gotta stop thinking in terms of TPS and start thinking in terms of what the players actually have to do to hit it.
Consider it this way: Adding 100 zero framer jacks to Secret Zombie Room would change its TPS from 4 to 5, but would make it undeniably FGO in difficulty to AAA. TPS is one tool to investigate difficulty, but it's not the only one.
Similar to the Secret Zombie Room example, the minijacks at the end of the file require a lot of precision in those small sections. The fact it's "not dense" anywhere else means little considering the difficulty of the jack patterns themselves.


I'm sorry but I laughed at this IRL: "Yeah man just make your hands hit all the keys at the right time and you'll AAA it!" Wow, I never would have guessed that.
Also it's wrong- it's not a 12 note trill on each hand, it's a 10 note trill followed by two fast grace notes followed by a minijack- that's QUITE a bit different from a simple jumptrill.


I still think repeating pattern triplets are just as hard if not harder than if it was actually a full stream. Another case of lower TPS not necessarily being easier.
This is honestly not too big a deal, as I think the above two sections make it 10-worthy regardless of the rest of the file, but in any case it's worth mentioning.


Whatever. If this is going to stay a 9, all I ask is that the community get around to re-evaluating the difficulty system as a whole rather soon- if that's not going to happen, put this as a 10 where it belongs as compared to the rest of the files in the game (hi ABCDEath) then move it back to a 9 when the difficulties are actually updated. No sense in using a new system without the intention of applying it to every song.

lawls, got blocks on D5's song after double booflagging and blackflagging. I'll prolly AAA later cuz I like the color green, but I'm more than certain my current score will advance me to round 2.

I'm starting to enjoy Fall Silently more and more. It's grown on me after playing it so many times =D can't complain Dossar, this is stepped very well.

At first I did think it was a 10, but I'll admit that it was because I couldn't hit it very well to start. After watching replays and figuring out how patterns work, I'm gonna have to stick with it being a 9.

The difficulty system is pretty wacky for the 10's. Some I combo'd easily, and some it feels like I need another year of practice to combo cleanly. Its like playing jelly roll blues followed by southern cross, just makes me think 'wtf?' And with the 11's, they go for quite a range too. It just seems the higher you go up (1-13) in difficulty, the grater the range within the category. It's unavoidable in a 13 point system where the ceiling keeps going higher as the community improves.

Also, when a person with an ave. rank of one call a pattern easy, it doesn't mean much, because obviously most patterns are easy to them.

What astounds me is that Balloon Fever was once considered an 11 and now files harder than it are being questioned for borderline 9/10.

Gradius used to be a 12. But yeah, if you want my opinion there needs to be another difficulty inserted between 9 and 10 and seperate all these borderline songs and put them into it. The skill jump between a low 9 and a high 10 lately is HUGE.

Ambient Angels: i don't think that the jumpstream is hard at all, I have 6 goods on it because I keep derping goods at the beginning for some damn reason. I had 5 goods going into the 600 mark and autofailed at 6 goods at 930 combo.

Not when divisions are divided in such a way that relative difficulty is maintained

If this argument was about how Fall Silently is harder than Ambient Angels, that would be an entirely different matter

True, but the difficulty of the song sets the standard as each song in each subsequent round should be harder. Its entirely possible that Fall Silently might be harder to AAA than whatever the 2nd Round Song ends up being.

Difficulty is also very relative as different people are better at different things. What might be easy for you and me can be horrible for someone else. Personally, my bane are songs like Club and Aim Anthem or long 1 handed trills of Max Forever. So i understand that there will be songs that people will think that are 9's, 10's, or 11's when they might be actually 8's - 12's.

Props Spit, Ambient Angels is a very fun file but my key setup, as usual, always gets in the way of jumpstream (especially those ****ing [13] [24] jumps).
