Bluenote/Synth Songs
For the uninformed: The bluenote/synth songs are a number of older songs from the earliest days of the site, where the files were actually made basically in notepad with some frame timings on them. As a result, they’re pretty wildly offsync, and as they predate the period where notes were coloured based on their timing, are blue noteskinned throughout.
What happened is that the list of synth/bluenote songs was moved from their various genres into the “Support” genre, which previously held only the three songs obtainable by buying the artist’s album in the FFR Shop.
The Bluenote/Synth songs, being in Support, are no longer public, which is why you’ll have lost public AAAs/FCs and the total public song count is down. Since they’re in the Support Genre right now, and nobody happens to own the tokens (since they don’t exist) the songs aren’t available for play, which is why you can’t find them.
Anybody who is a veteran, or still has subscriber benefits can see their ranks on the “Token level rank” page. Your scores still exist, the songs still exist, and you haven’t lost any AAAs or FCs.
The Support Genre is going to be renamed to “Legacy” containing all of the old songs that weren’t created under the new noteskinning/syncing system.
The Legacy Genre -will- be a public genre. The songs will be available to everybody, and once that is done, the songs will re-appear in the normal levelranks page, and the profile bars will re-update with the old number of songs, and your old AAA/FC counts.
Nobody has lost songs, nobody has lost AAAs, nobody has lost FCs, we’re just being careful with the databases as we get these moved over, taking it slowly, making backups, to ensure that no data is lost.

Hoorah for front page post.
$10 says people will be asking why the songs were moved for a while yet in the forums/prochat.
Posted at 11:37am on November 29th, 2010
If the Support Genre is going to be renamed, what will happen to the support songs?
Posted at 11:55am on November 29th, 2010
@Xayphon: apparently, the support songs will become token songs with, according to devonin, “rather difficult requirements” in order to unlock them. People who already had the support tokens will retain these songs.

Posted at 1:04pm on November 29th, 2010
so this means we will be able to publicly play Party 4U v1, Captain Jack, and the secret code songs?
Posted at 1:24pm on November 29th, 2010
u could have just removed them entirely from the game, u removing them from public improved my average rank.

Bring back Chrono Trigger !!
Posted at 3:07pm on November 29th, 2010
Any word on whether the sync on the steps will be improved at all or the arrows properly colored? I think I remember hearing a long time ago that it was going to happen eventually, it was just low on the priority list.
Posted at 3:27pm on November 29th, 2010
no thebulbguy. nothing will ever be changed in those songs. they are “legendary” and are going to stay “legendary”.
Posted at 3:29pm on November 29th, 2010
sorry for the double…..
x_lambourghini_x, im not sure about p4u because it’s a secret song, but as for captain jack, we don’t have the rights to the song to keep it on the site(last time i checked) and only put it up on his birthday/day of death, don’t remember which. either way chrono trigger won’t come back either because of the rights for the song isn’t in our possession wineandbread.

Thanks for the great update Devonin, and I like the idea of the “Legacy” Genre.
Posted at 4:19pm on November 29th, 2010
awesome. hope it’s all done soon, good songs in there ><
Posted at 4:19pm on November 29th, 2010
This is an absolutely -brilliant- idea. I really like the new FFR team.
Posted at 4:42pm on November 29th, 2010
Thanks for taking the time to make sure it is done correctly with no problems. Get it back soon! Good work guys.
Posted at 5:36pm on November 29th, 2010
Horrible steps and off sync, just take the songs out of the game or atleast out of the rankings. If you want to keep them as a legacy or something like that just make a LEGACY FFR that look exactly the same as how it looks in the begining and put the songs there and everyones happy
Posted at 6:41pm on November 29th, 2010
Perhaps just create a new genre altogether, and add the Synth songs to it, instead of renaming the old one.
Posted at 8:12pm on November 29th, 2010
I like this idea. Is it possible to “fix” these stepfiles so they’re synced and up to date? That would be even cooler.
Posted at 8:17pm on November 29th, 2010
So what’s next on the agenda?
Posted at 9:36pm on November 29th, 2010
Just figured I would let you guys know that you missed a song. Alpha Helix in Dance. Stepped by Synth and all blue notes. Just incase you didnt realize that.
Posted at 11:37pm on November 29th, 2010
I laught hard at my comment whit -9! I guess people like to play songs off sync. Good for them. Ill keep supporting the idea to delete the songs or step them again.
Posted at 12:09am on November 30th, 2010
i was worried, i just got a bunch of FC’s last night and they were all gone, but they’re not
keep up the good work guys :]
Posted at 12:59am on November 30th, 2010
Don’t like this, I don’t like a legacy genre, I think they were fine where they were
Posted at 5:33am on November 30th, 2010
somebody know how to unlock Tell v3 (Extended Mix) and Coactive [Over My Shoulder Mix] tokens?
Posted at 9:10am on November 30th, 2010
Yea I too would like to know how to get these “Support tokens”.
Posted at 2:42pm on November 30th, 2010
You have to buy them. loal
Posted at 3:47pm on November 30th, 2010
awsome idea! I hope the genre simbol stays blue
Posted at 3:48pm on November 30th, 2010
hey why isnt my text box blue? im a veteran…?
Posted at 4:57pm on November 30th, 2010
Btw no one can buy these support tokens anymore >_>
Posted at 4:58pm on November 30th, 2010
Were new songs added too? My bars went frmo a max of 767 to 770. I’m confused.
Posted at 9:52pm on November 30th, 2010
yes Mike, check the Change Log to see the recent added songs.
Posted at 12:56pm on December 1st, 2010
Man, this change has been a long time coming. I wonder if Story of Sunshine Girl and its kin were still among the most played songs?
Posted at 12:58pm on December 1st, 2010
…or, y’know, whatever that song was called.
Posted at 9:22pm on December 1st, 2010
I approve. The Synthlight songs have AAA counts that are similar to difficulty 10, not 4, 5, and 6. There’s no sense troubling elite players due to fake difficulty. (I still feel proud to have Euphoria[Antimonie] AAA under my belt.)
Now for questions:
Does that include partially colored songs (like Domani and NeoMAX)? Or is “bluenote” the cutoff? Not all bluenote songs are offsync.
What’s going to happen to the Funk genre? There are hardly any songs left, now that the Synthlight songs are gone… While you’re at it, the Dance 1+2 genres are really packed.
Will there still be a credit requirement/price for Legacy songs that are in Secret and Purchased? If the requirement is removed, will other songs take their place?
Posted at 9:35pm on December 1st, 2010
yeah genre arrangement is required for sure.
Being “blue note” is a good cutoff because it’s not allowed to change/remove. Non-blue note ones could be fixed if we can get dwi/sm files.
Posted at 2:37pm on December 2nd, 2010
It’s interesting in a way, because they are both, at this time, influence the average score in both the token and public sections. No AAAs/FCs lost on the public side (as of now, anyway).
Posted at 2:40pm on December 2nd, 2010
But honestly, I liked it the way it was.
There should have been no change here. A slight song shuffle, sure.
But to completely change the public/token genre is a little out of hand.
Posted at 4:59pm on December 2nd, 2010
Moving blue note songs into one genre. Won’t that be almost every song in FFR? Most of them have blue notes. ;P

@Zyroplex: I would, at this point, encourage a merge of Funk and Rock seeing as there aren’t a lot of songs in Funk honestly never will be.

Also, fuck lag causing you to double post.
Posted at 3:25pm on December 3rd, 2010
I never realized how many of my favorite songs were in this genre. This really brings back memories of when I mashed EVERYTHING. However, it feels a little awkward to not have to move to the Classic genre for some of my favorites. I kind of miss the hunt for these songs. I’m behind the FFR Staff’s decisions, though.

Forget about the songs, FIX THE LAG!!!
Posted at 11:48pm on December 4th, 2010
If FFR is lagging, download Game Booster 2.0
Quote this post whenever someone complains about FFR lagging/being choppy/similar
Posted at 9:34am on December 5th, 2010
I have almost no lag now. The solution? Using a Flash Player 9 Standalone and Gamebooster 2.0 Before using these FFR was almost completely unplayable… now there’s pretty much no lag at all.
Also, I think the bluenote songs should have stayed where they were…
Posted at 2:05pm on December 5th, 2010
Yeah the standalone is great. Only way I can play anymore

Hmm judging from the list. Excite Bike being #1. I can see how people are ranking. Playing the easiest songs over and over and over and over again. Snowflake? come on.
