Hm. Not that I have much room to talk, being a n00b and all, but.. yes.

I think that postwhoring and flame wars and idiots in general are just things you have to deal with when you a) make a site with a discussion forum free and open to the public and b) make it somehow cool to have lots of posts (because more women will sleep with you if you have over 1000 posts on FFR, yes?) We can whine and cry about it, but we will only encourage people to continue their stupid behavior. the_creeper spams up the chat room because people get all flustered when he does it (and there's that girl that has an orgasm every time he does it, but that's a completely different issue o.o. He seriously tried to impress his way into my cyberpants by telling me that he owns the FFR site, and explaining/demonstrating all the "evil" things he can do. Whatever, he's a kid and he wants attention. We ignore him, and he finds someone else to bother. We throw fits and he stays. This is where I say I have to agree with hydrojake (I think? That was 6 pages ago) that if the chat goes, the idiots flood to the forums.

Uh.. as for "titles?" Please. If you follow good forum ettiquette, your reward should be not getting kicked out. This can't be an easy site to maintain, and we're allowed to abuse it for free. There you go. There's your reward.

The quiz sounds like a good idea, but anyone can read something to find the answers, then completely disregard what was read. The rules are there for us to read, and proof that people do or do not read the rules should be apparent in individual posting habits.

Paragraph one: Yeah, if you're good you get to stay seems like a fine mantra to me. Only thing is that nobody else really buys into that. Titles can seriously help out. I swear to god, I would improve my posting slightly if it would get me a special nifty and dandy title, like "Oldschool Baller", or anything else that has oldschools and balls.

Paragraph two: If they disregard what was read, ban them. With a warning to that degree, then staying on the site WOULD be a reward, though.

Ok, so the rewards idea seems to be iffy. I'm just saying, a stronger incentive is necessary for a better quality of posters.

I do believe that we have been proven wrong in the terms of the warning/ban system and that it works very well. I would say that it could work better.
1) We need more people who can ban (LD, we know it's you. When you get the power, I'll be the first to suck up).
2) We might need more mods, and I hate saying so because governments in general make me sick.

As for the PC...yeah, it helps. Heh heh heh...
Ok, it doesn't help me, but I'm sure someone will say "OMG, you're XXXXXXXXX from FFR! You have so many posts, let me sleep with you!"eventually. Until then, my 3 digits will rule you all. All three.

I think these would be the best options:

1. Rename the garbage bin and give it rules so that it is not for random postwhoring but it is for joke threads and random threads.

2. De-mod Nestlekwik, Spook, Cenright, and 87x. They don't do their job, so why keep them on staff?

3. Get one or two more mods.

4. Promote or get one or two more admins so more people can ban.

5. Mods and Admins should not be afriad to lay down the law just like the admin in Kilga's linked thread.

6. Make sure everyone has read the rules-like incooperating it to the sign up-it's pretty sad when the post your picture thread has 100x more views then these rules and the old rules combined.

7. Everyone needs to watch their posting.

Yes, Nestle did make the "back" thread. But hasn't shown up since. I guess R2 will bring him back.

Spook only comes on occasionally and really does nothing :/.

Spook isn't a Forum Mod, he's a Site Admin. Even though he doesn't moderate the forum much at all, he still does a good job of administering the site.

He's like the police sergeant. He's not on the beat much but he still takes care of business.

It's funny, since you're now leaving alone two people that rarely show their face here and telling the staff to remove two active posters.

Oh, the irony.

Anyway, nobody in this thread can say implementing one thing or another won't work. We're not any other forum. If you give it a shot and it doesn't work, it's very simple to undo the mistake. It won't even be a huge mistake and it will probably work.

I am referring, of course, to adding a grammar rule, a forced read of the rules, adding more mods / deleting old mods, and reducing the leniency of the rules.

No point in de-modding them. It's also sort of a respect position that they've earned in the community, just because they aren't the most active policers on the site, it doesn't mean they can't keep their mod positions as a sign of being respectable members of the ffr community.

Hey guys....for once im not gonna be off topic yay but anways, somethings i just want to add to the list and repeat so that people dont forget:
1. Reinstate Jewpin as a mod or admin(whichever is best.)
2. RENAME the garbage bin.
3. Put loads of rules on spamming and such in the garbage bin.
4. Keep the mods until they really disappear and get newer and better mods.
5. Stop ass holes like me from getting off topic(lol.)
6. Keep the flamingness to a minimum(not that much has been going on)
These aren't great ideas but i just thought of them in about 7 minutes.
