whats better,ps3 or the nintendo wii

I don't see an "Early Childhood" rating on these. I don't see an "E" rating on these. I don't see an "E 10+" rating on these. I do see "T" and "M". And one of them is "AO".

You even mention Zelda, which is a T-rated game. How is that "for little kids"? And correct me if I'm wrong, but as I recall, Madden, Tiger Woods Golf, and the dozens of other sports games on Wii... the characters have feet! Amazing!

Finally something we can agree on haha. Yes, people really do need to stop with the false accusations of the Wii being meant for kids only, their games appeal to every age, from children to seniors.

But you can't evaluate which is better. There are three consoles.

By the way, no matter what the results are in the end, you can't make a general opinion that everyone can agree on. There are some who will like the PS3 more than the Wii and there'll be some who like the Wii more than the PS3.

And if you haven't noticed, this thread hasn't gone on "forever" and it's been here for quite a while.

Do I even dare re-enter this debate? I mean squeek has some serious skills in the wits department, and what tsugo said is right. There will all ways be fanboys/girls who favor their own system above others for idiotic reasons, but for those who are interested in the debate for the purpose of discussing the differences between the two, and coming to a personal conclusion based upon the results of that debate, I think it should continue regardless of each consoles current status so as to continue displaying and discussing the pros and cons of each console at different points in the console's life span.

ive actually never seen an AO game,like ever for anything cept for this old comoputer game made in like 1998.

and zelda is for kids.shouldnt have said little, like im sure you guys all play it, thats fine, but games are ment for kids, and unless its porongrphic, then theres nothing wrong with it. i mean i used to play mortal kombat and all its fatallties when i was 3. and not *trying* to start an argument, just repliing to the person who made this thread to tell him which console he might rather pefer.

2) What part of running enemies through with a sword is meant for kids? Please tell me where death and destruction is meant for children, because Nickelodeon needs to change its broadcasting accordingly!

3) Games are meant for the age group they're developed for. Mortal Kombat was not intended for three-year olds. It was intended for 16+ teenagers.

There's nothing wrong with games that aren't pornographic? Maybe you think that, having played Mortal Kombat at the age of three. Most parents don't want to have their children virtually kill other people with guns, swords, etc. with lifelike realism. I KNOW if I had children, I wouldn't let them play anything before I checked it out.

4) When you mean just one thing, you need to say just one thing.

"and the sports games, are all cartoon like, and have no feet."

Therefore, you implied that every sports game is cartoon-like and the characters have no feet.

PS - Wii Sports has 5 sports. 4 sports feature characters with feet. One sport features some characters with and some characters without feet. Again, saying "everything" implies everything, and when it's not "everything", then I'm going to call you on it.

hell, im not even 16, and im being told a game i grew up playing isnt meant for me to be played for another year?

if you want online play and for action/violent games, go for ps3.

if you want mario and zelda go for wii

both ps3 and wii have motion controllers and both have sports.

It all depens on what you like, the wii is fun and interative, but then the ps3 is fun and has godly graphics, but i perfer the wii, also its cheaper lol

Yep. Why is that hard to believe? Movies with guns and killing are rated "R" for 17+ people, so why would games with guns and killing be OK for three-year olds?

if you want online play and for action/violent games, go for ps3.

You know there is another console for this generation called the XBox 360? The one with actually GOOD games and a big library? The one with the best online service? The one that costs less?

Good thing Super Paper Mario and Twilight Princess make up two games in my library of 9. The library that will be doubled in a few months will still have one Zelda game and one more Mario game, so 3/18 games.

I decided to get a Wii because it looked like an interesting way to play games. I didn't buy it so I could play three games and then throw it away.

both ps3 and wii have motion controllers and both have sports.

Except one is a pathetic last-minute addition that only has six degrees of tilt and cannot be held one-handed.

I only have one thing I want to pick at before giving my reply to the general thread : Games are meant for kids? No. Games are a form of entertainment, and everyone is entitled to entertainment; therefore, everyone is entitled to play games if they wish to do so.

Squeek pretty much covered everything else I wanted to say o.O.

Now to reply to the general thread.

I would personally take the Wii over the PS3. The number of problems I've heard the PS3 having just makes it seem not worthwhile to me right now.

Great, now we are back to this again. As I have stated multiple times, the PS3 and the 360 are equivalent in their price, the addition of an HD dvd player in the PS3, instead of needing an attachment that cost an additional $200 on top of your $400 already invested, makes it equivalent!! As for the "pathetic last-minute addition" statement, well that's a joke. Sony debuted motion sensitive controls before the Nintendo ever had it perfected. In fact, Nintendo didn't even have a fully operational display when they attempted to show off their design at last year's E3. Finally, the online services for the PS3 are steadily improving, I mean for a first generation game to launch with up to 40 players online, well that shows a pretty good picture of what you can expect in the near future.

What problems are you refering to? I for one can tell you that I can leave my system on for days at a time, and not suffer any types of malfunctions. I have not even came across any lag online, and for that matter, on the internet, I don't have any problems with regular gameplay either, so what problems are you refering to?

What if I don't want HD? I do, after all, have an old SDTV here with no intention to upgrade.

The 360 is $300 for me. I don't care about online, HD, wireless, etc.

Sony never gave proof that they had motion-sensing controllers as a concept for the PS3. Nintendo, on the other hand, claims to have had the idea back when n64 was on the market, and wanted motion-sensing on Gamecube but just decided to make a generic console and perfect the system while releasing Gamecube games.

Well unfortunatley for you, this generation is practically built around HD, really, even the Wii has capabilities of displaying up to 480p. Sony did in fact give proof of their motion sensing plans, which was the original purpose of the so called "boomerang" controller. As far as you getting the 360 for $300, I don't believe anyone here really cares about how much you can get it for because that doesn't lower the price for them, and even if you did get a 360 for $300, then for the HD dvd capability you'd have to spend an extra $200 for the attachment, which equals out to the $500 "60 gig" PS3, so in that case you'd still be beter off going with the PS3.
