New Difficulty System Name Suggestions.
Hi there~
As some people may be aware, there has been a new difficulty system developing in the background and it should (hopefully) be in place as early as mid next week! One of the less important challenges has been creating titles for each difficulty while maintaining unique acronyms for each.
What I would like to do is take suggestions from players regarding the final names of these difficulties. So head on over to the thread and let me know what you’d like to see changed/kept, thoughts both ways are important. Be sure to read the first post, as I will be disregarding suggestions that do not follow suit.
You can locate the thread here in the difficulty subforum. Thanks for your time, and keep banging those keys!!
Songs of the Week (May 18, 2012)
Hello again arrow smashers!! Another new week, and another new handful of new songs for your rhythm gaming needs~
Straight out of the gates we have a low Challenging chart from Veteran step-artist bmah in the form of New Windy Paradise by BELUGA. This short New Age track with its flowing steps and funky melodies is a pleasant addition to bmahs 60+ charts already in game.
Video Out B is our second song for this week and also a brand new skill token. To unlock who_cares973 rendition of this Vospi track from his ‘Video Out __’ series, simply pass its namesake Video Out A with a ‘B’ Grade. One can only speculate when someone will come along and step Video out C & D
Doormouse is third up with a crazy mash-up of multi-’core’ goodness from his 2002 album Freaked out mess. The song is Face in the Gutter and is stepped by one of our pro keymashers AlexDest. This will see Doormouse’s 2nd song and Alex’s 4th chart on FFR, hopefully with many more to come from both parties.
Another contender for a skill token this week was this V2 stepped by trumaestro. Trisection V2 is a much needed re-stepping of the classic easy FFR chart that has graced many peoples AAA counts since 2007, but be warned: this is no walk in the park. This classic Rock song is going to test many players with its constant jump jacks and fast paced guitar solos. This isn’t a Skill Token, but it will cost you 3250 credits to purchase at the FFR Shop.
Wrapping up this weeks releases is our Veteran song Banned Forever, a mini marathon stepped by kjwkjw. This fun filled Renard track clocks in at just under 4 minutes and most definitely takes you on a journey with just over 2000 notes of keyboard smacking fun. Like all veteran songs, this song will be publicly available in one week for non Veterans to play.

Songs of the Week (May 11, 2012)
Five new simfiles for you this week:
First on the line is a v2 for one of FFR’s oldest files. Though Arch0wl‘s original chart for Flight of the Bumblebee has been in the game since 2003, the file has started to… show its age. Thankfully, today experienced stepper Silvuh brings us a much more musically accurate (and noticeably easier) new chart to this iconic song that can be yours for just 1,100 credits.
Next up is the amusingly named UMAD? by xKore, stepped by MarioNintendo. The song’s wide variety of rhythms give lots of possibilities for stepping, and the entire package adds up to be a short but Challenging file indeed.
Our third offering is another short song, joining our first two releases at just a touch over a minute. This song comes from songstowearpantsto, a site that features musician Andrew Huang creating short tunes based on user-submitted requests. The song “Coffin” showcased in today’s release was spawned from the prompt, “Your hip-hop skills are crazy!! Make a crazy beat that shows everyone how sick you are!!!” and well, you have to play the file to see just how that turned out! Credits to YOSHl for this Very Challenging chart, and congratulations to him for his first file in FFR.
Next up is a file that bucks the previous trend of short files soundly- clocking in at 4:29 long, Plasmatextor by Virt has been stepped by someone who is no stranger to chiptunes. With well-known files like Staring at my Spaceship and Mathsma Attack to his name, anyone who can take the heat of a For Masters Only file will definitely want to check out Kommisar‘s latest chart.
Finally, we have Faint Breath by TC_Halogen, with steps by… TC_Halogen. Though this is Halogen’s 11th file in the game, this marks the first time one of his songs has been added. Be sure to give a hand to our new FFR Music Producer, and if you are a Veteran, check out his For Masters Only-rated file while you’re at it! Those who are not Veterans will have to wait one week for this file to be public.
[May 11 Released Songs]
Flight of the Bumblebee v2 by Rimsky Korsakov (Silvuh) – Purchased [1,100 Credits] (Classical Orchestral) / Difficult / 1:13
UMAD? by xKore (MarioNintendo) – Dance 2 (Drum’n Bass) / Challenging / 1:17
Coffin by Girl (YOSHl) – Misc (Experimental) / Very Challenging / 1:14
Plasmatextor by Virt (Kommisar) – Arcade (Chiptune) / For Masters Only / 4:29
Faint Breath by TC_Halogen (TC_Halogen) – Dance 2 (Trance) / For Masters Only / 2:50
Additionally, last week’s Veteran release is now public:
Pokamen Party by Azrael Vs Renard (megamon88) – Secret [24,000 credits] (Breakcore) / For Masters Only / 2:09

That’s it for this update. Enjoy your arrow smashing!

It’s coming. . .

Songs of the Week (May 4th, 2012)
Apologies for the late front page article on this weeks song release.
Our other article writer was going to be a day late and my first two detailed write-ups were ruined by untimely string of laptop derp that successfully
killed my progress twice in a row, so I’ll keep this short.
But enough about that, let’s get to this weeks songs!
Once again, 4 new releases and a Vet song. A veritable mixed bag of genres starting with a timid dance track from Caine1989 stepped by Elite Ninja & a short but challenging Yust song from a new member of FFRs ever-growing team of step-artists rushyrulz. Then we have 2 of our more seasoned steppers, who_cares973 brings us an endurance draining An Endless Sporadic Instrumental Rock chart, and & hi19hi19 a trill-tastic classical string piece executed by Ngwang Samphel (a.k.a. Winterwind-NS). This leaves us with none other than megamon88 and his Azrael Vs Renard Breakcore battle to wrap things up for the week.
[May 4th Released Songs]
Electric Obsession by Caine1989 (Elite Ninja) – Dance (Techno Pop) / Tricky / 1:52
{Evolution} Out Stage by Yust (rushyrulz) –Arcade (Techno) / Challenging / 1:32
Impulse by An Endless Sporadic (who_cares973) – Rock (Instrumental Rock) / Very Challenging / 4:12
Caprice for Violin in B minor Theme and Variations by Ngwang Samphel (hi19hi19) – Classical (Violin Solo) / For Masters Only / 3:37
Pokamen Party by Azrael Vs Renard (megamon88) – Secret [24,000 credits] (Breakcore) / For Masters Only / 2:09
Last weeks Veteran song is now public:
Chaosmaid by Paraoka feat. Iku Acme (Kommisar) – Purchased [2250 credits] (Speedy Electro) / For Masters Only / 1:53
If you want to comment on these files, leave a post in this thread. We’re always itching to hear what you’ve got to say on them.
Once again, apologies for the late front page post, but stay tuned for a special announcement over the weekend regarding an upcoming event!!

Songs of the Week (April 27th, 2012)
Sup arrow smashers? Got five new songs for you this week, so let’s get this party going! Contrary to last week, I’m going to start with the easier releases this time around, which starts with a beautifully ambient classical cross-over Release from Jennifer Thomas. Some of you might have played her other song on FFR A Beautiful Storm? Well this nice relaxing Beginner chart comes to us from a veteran stepper and is also Silvuh‘s 52nd file in game.
Jumping up in a difficulty to Challenging territory now is Princess Lolitits by Blitz Lunar, a short and sweet but funky little 8-bit number that you can find in arcade. For those of you that like the occassional pink and purple notes ninjaKIWI has got a nice little surprise for you this week!
Up next from the jumpstreamy mind of icontrolyourworld is yet another epic track from S.S.H.. Demon Beast Appearance sees S.S.H back to their very familiar good old variety of Rock. With a lot of testing minijacks, some quick paced jumpstream and a handful of shred-tastic solos, this file should be a lot of fun for those of you inclined to dominating For Masters Only songs or just those of you wanting another Rock full combo under your belts.
Now for the hardest section of this weeks release, we have a brand new For Gurus Only file and another For Masters Only for your arrowbeating needs. First up is Storm Raid Battle by Sabrepulse, an artist that is no stranger to most players. This intense 3 minute long Chip/break chart is brought to us by 0 and can be found in Misc. Not much to say about this file aside from load it up and go get your butt whooped
And last, but certainly not least is this weeks Veteran song Chaosmaid. A speedy electro track from Paraoka feat. Iku Acme with a very fun accommodating chart stepped by one of our veteran step-artists Kommisar. This file might clock in at just under 2 minutes, but it will make you work for that full combo/AAA. It can be found in Purchased, and with a small fee of 2250 credits in the FFR Shop, it can be yours to keep!
[April 27 Released Songs]
Release by Jennifer Thomas (Silvuh) – Classical (Piano Ambient) / Beginner / 2:26
Princess Lolitits by Blitz Lunar (ninjaKIWI) – Arcade (8-bit) / Challenging / 1:09
Demon Beast Appearance by S.S.H. (icontrolyourworld) – Rock (Epic VG Rock) / For Masters Only / 2:24
Storm Raid Battle by Sabrepulse (0) – Misc (Chiptune Breakcore) / For Gurus Only / 3:23
Chaosmaid by Paraoka feat. Iku Acme (Kommisar) – Purchased [2250 credits] (Speedy Electro) / For Masters Only / 1:53
Last weeks Veteran song is now public too:
My Half by Venetian Snares (Choofers) – Misc (Drum’n Bass) / For Gurus Only / 4:53
If you want to comment on these files, we’d LOVE to hear from you! Just drop a post into this thread and take a look at what everyone else is thinking too.

Songs of the Week (April 20th, 2012)
Another week and FFR brings you four five more new files!
Let’s start with the most difficult- My Half by Venetian Snares. Venetian Snares is certainly an artist familiar to top FFR players, and this song delivers more of his trademark sound- sprawling sonic landscapes interspersed with intense breakcore beats and IDM drums. The steps are brought to us by veteran stepman and D5 tournament winner Choofers. While he has made many files before, this marks his first file to be added to FFR- congratulations to him!
Next we have Rotary Slicers, by Terminal 11. Much like last week’s release Canary Part V, this song will be familiar to many who participated in the 6th Dragon’s Fury Custom Tournament. With steps brought to us by German mastermind Xayphon, this For Masters Only file packs quite a punch.
Clocking in with a Very Challenging rating, our next file is Nightrain by S.S.H. Another artist that veteran FFR players are no doubt familiar with, this super funky song breaks from S.S.H.’s more traditional rock roots to lay down a groovy slap bass instead. With steps courtesy trumaestro, this file provides a much-needed addition to FFR’s Funk page. And much like Choofers, this is trumaestro’s first file added to FFR- let’s hope for more to come!
Our last two files are Face of Faith by SHiNKA and beyond the summer sky ~Maid To Order~ by Constructor~, stepped by Ziergdsx18 and bmah respectively. With Challenging and Difficult ratings, these files should provide something for those still working their way up to being able to handle the other more brutal files that were released today.
With last week’s change to the Veteran System, veteran perks are more accessible than ever. Those changes have allowed us to return to the Veteran’s Song system. However, there will be 5 songs released each week for a while in order to keep the new files flowing for everyone on the site! My Half, highlighted in blue below, is the veteran’s song this week, and becomes public in 1 week.
Also note, while not a terribly major change, releases will be on Fridays from now on.
[April 20 Released Songs]
beyond the summer sky ~Maid To Order~ by Constructor~ (bmah) – Dance (Happy Hardcore) / Difficult / 1:58
Face of Faith by SHiNKA (Ziergdsx18) – Dance 2 (Trancecore) / Challenging / 2:23
Nightrain by S.S.H. (trumaestro) – Funk (Funk Fusion) / Very Challenging / 1:37
Rotary Slicers by Terminal 11 (Xayphon) – Secret [38,000 Credits] (IDM) / For Masters Only / 3:02
My Half by Venetian Snares (Choofers) – Misc (Drum’n Bass) / For Gurus Only / 4:53
If you have an opinion on these releases, drop a post in this thread to let the forums know.
That’s it for this update. Enjoy your arrow smashing!

I Can Haz Vet Yet?
G’day everyone ![]()
So, with a lot of talk about how the Veteran status is attained, (And a lot of complaining about the 3 year wait), It has come to our attention that changing this system to something a little more ‘effort’ based would be a fantastic idea for all you non-Vet arrow smashers. With the sheer amount of the game plays it takes to hit milestones over 3 billion, relaxing the Veteran requirement for time seems pretty logical.
So here’s how it’s gonna go down.
For each milestone you hit after 3 billion, your time requirement for Veteran status will be lowered by 1 month then a further 2 months, then a further 3 months, etc, etc… Until the new minimum time of 8 months for 10 billion points. We are hoping that this might inspire some players to play the game more in an effort to get access to veteran perks such as the R^2 Engine Beta & SotW.
To find out if you qualify, the page can be found by clicking here…
http://www.flashflashrevolution.com/tools/icanhazvetyet/
…and to lessen confusion we’ve included a neat little graph to the page, and a basic text conversion of each milestone.
Visiting the page tells you if you are within the new guidelines and gives you either a neat little message telling you that you are now a vet, or a message telling you how long/many points you need to get there. There is also a Vet Calculator on this page so you can find out exactly how far away from that shiny blue name you are.
Many thanks go to Sprite- and emerald000 for throwing together the page and working out the equations to make this happen. Hopefully this will see a lot more people ‘earning’ their Veteran status without having to wait for 3 years to get it!
Leave a comment here with your thoughts on this idea or any bugs you might find when trying to use the tool. Unfortunately for the current Veterans, the ~hype~ was all for the non-Veterans this time around. But don’t worry, we have much more in store for all of you in the very near future!
