Re: Goodbye Framers!
have you seen my join date? please dont talk to me like im some new guy. ive been here since practically the beginning. have you even played original FFR? I highly doubt it.What're you talking about? This has nothing to do with scores. Avmisses have become a part of FFR. It's what makes this unique from SM. Sadly, it also stops FFR from doing a lot of other things. In the end it's obviously better to see it go, but it's a huge goodbye to have. Had you taken the time to learn avmisses and get through them, you might feel the same way. Instead of crying about how many you get.
I have learned to avoid them. It has nothing to do with me not knowing how.
Its a bug. A bug that should have been fixed when it was discovered.
Unique? Are you joking? So you are saying driving players away for the sake of uniqueness is worth it?
Last point, im not crying. If anything, you are. Its a bug which you keep dear to your heart for your own personal selfish reasons. Get over it.Comment

Re: Goodbye Framers!
I am, by no means, an amazing player. I've just learned to love the game for how it is. It's truly sad to see avmisses be dealt with, but I know it's going to make things a lot easier.
Could you please explain my personal, selfish reasons? o.O
..and yes, I did play the original FFR. It's not like join date says anything about your skill, anyway. ..and fyi, I have a much older account.Last edited by RoastedNoob; 01-28-2008, 09:17 PM.Comment

Re: Goodbye Framers!
Because an entire era of scores and gameplays will be rendered obsolete.
The games are already going to be separate for history's sake. So why demolish those accomplishments for a short period of playability when, in the long term, the problem is already going to be fixed?
Note: This argument assumes that 3rd Style is relatively close to complete.Comment

Re: Goodbye Framers!
history is already written. you cannot destroy history. It's not about my scores, as I would be happy to replay any song to take advantage of an easier scoring system. It's because the history of 2nd Style is going to be preserved when 3rd Style is released, so why demolish the history of 2nd Style by making it incredibly easy to obtain previously unattainable score, when the problem is going to be fixed eventually anyways, and the history is going to be separately preserved?
If 3rd style was coming out next week, I could understand. We still have no knowledge of when it is coming. There isnt even a window for a release.
There is no reason to avoid fixing something that should have been fixed a long time ago.Comment

Re: Goodbye Framers!
I think that there should be 2 rankings for each song, 1 rank displaying score with avmisses and a score without. as for avrg rank take the best score regardless if the score was obtained with or without avmisses. i also think there should be something(new version or option) that alows the user to play WITH avmisses on. that way people are still able to be recognised for their past avmiss scores while being able to move on and get better scores to improve avrg rank. and in making it still possible to play with avmisses it keeps some the game's nostalgia and originality. EDIT: I also thought that foil sounded quite intelligent in most of his posts here in this threadLast edited by OnixRose; 01-28-2008, 09:23 PM.

There. Right there. Just because YOU love it doesnt mean the majority does.
And skillwise? I cannot post a very good high score because I avmiss. Call it an excuse, but you can ask anyone who knows me if I avmiss.Comment

While it would be interesting to see, I think the server costs of this far exceed its necessity.I think that there should be 2 rankings for each song, 1 rank displaying score with avmisses and a score without. as for avrg rank take the best score regardless if the score was obtained with or without avmisses. i also think there should be something(new version or option) that alows the user to play WITH avmisses on. that way people are still able to be recognised for their past avmiss scores while being able to move on and get better scores to improve avrg rank. and in making it still possible to play with avmisses it keeps some the game's nostalgia and originality.
Either the scores of this era get permanently recorded, or they simply get overwritten when the avmiss fix is complete.
It's pretty much one or the other.Comment

Re: Goodbye Framers!
What if the NFL started allowing robots to play football? and then rewrote all the history books so that none of the accomplishments of the human players were recognized? Would the true NFL players stand up for that?
Getting rid of avmisses is giving every individual a performance boost and rewriting the history books (highscore lists) based on that extra boost. All I ask for is the the games to be separate, so that the extra performance boost does not overwrite what players have played for years trying to accomplish.Comment

Re: Goodbye Framers!
You do realize that, just like the news post says "sport", all sports undergo changes that argue the old scores are "obsolete"? In baseball, new bats were designed. Baseballs were redesigned to travel farther. Do you know that they moved the pitcher's mound back? Yeah, so all the years they played with it in the original position, those records are "obsolete"? That's ridiculous.Getting rid of avmisses is giving every individual a performance boost and rewriting the history books (highscore lists) based on that extra boost. I have a "AAA" on HELLBEAT and you don't see me complaining. It affects me like it affects anybody else who got a score that will eventually be wiped away; we'll go back and improve it now that we can. You act like because we will be able to improve on our scores, the old scores were meaningless. I don't mean this offensively, but that's ridiculous. The old scores were what we had at the time, and now it's not that time anymore. Now it's time to move on.
Define "obsolete" please.Originally posted by ryanisadoucheSo anyways i was thinking, what if a single miss didn't stop your combo? Instead, your combo kept going until 2 consecutive misses were made. I think this would provide a more realistic ranking system, and eliminate a lot of mashing.Comment

Re: Goodbye Framers!
I don't love it, they piss me off more than anything. I just accept them.
Oh? I thought you learned to avoid/deal with them? Five years, and you're still this bad? =x Come on now. I play for about two months, then break for a month, and repeat that cycle, usually. You need to step it up, if you want to be better than me.

Re: Goodbye Framers!
Thank you. Any sports record is usually broken, due to ever-evolving rules and technology. Its just like anything else. There is still something called a AAA. It is the highest score attainable. Those AAAs are not erased. Molto for example. We should not fix something because an FC will be easier on it than it was before? that is highly flawed thinking dont you think? This also comes back to my point about selfish scoring reasons. Its a good thing. I dont know why people are upset.
Also, top players will still have better ranks on Molto becuase their PA will be much better. You act like everyone is going to be a pro.
Its a lot more positive than negative. Think about it.Comment

Re: Goodbye Framers!
Yes, but the offensive changes in baseball were in response to the foul strike rule, a change that singlehandedly sparked the lowest offensively productive era in baseball. Pitchers were given such an advantage that they had to balance it back out (while keeping the foul strike rule which sped up games dramatically). You do realize that, just like the news post says "sport", all sports undergo changes that argue the old scores are "obsolete"? Re: Goodbye Framers!
One of the most worthy historical things is the score database that has been continued for 4.3 years (you guys should realize how long it is for a internet game).
Other released features like Color Notes/Autofail/Speed Mods didn't break of those score compatibility, but av-miss fix DOES. And I think it makes 2nd style a completely different game (of course in a good meaning).
Plus I think av-miss feature has also historical worthiness if things like blue note files have, and shouldn't be completely removed from this entire site.Comment
