If I do go I'm willing to split the cost of a hotel room with some one. My plan is to ride the Amtrak up there and ride my bicycle around doing all the touristy stuff. If anyone has good ideas of things for me to check out on a bike, let me know please!

Edit: I've been checking out maps of Chicago and DePaul is only 1 mile from Union Station so that would work great for me.

Aww...I can't go. I can't leave the state until after July 10th (my 18th birthday/grad party) so yeah. It would be cool to have a convention here in Hawaii in the late summer(with me and other Hawaii-FFR-people doing the planning of course) and have a luau, but that would be a large travel expense for others. o.O

The poll has been pretty much static for a long time and no one responded to my previous post about extending it or closing it early, so I decided to close it early. We'll do the meet-up on the first weekend of July. (Again, July 1st through July 2nd. This is on a Friday and Saturday.)

At this point people can discuss where they plan on staying and how they plan on getting around. (I'll soon provide info on that for myself and a few others who will be staying with me.) We can also get a loose schedule of sorts going to begin coordination with any activities that have been discussed so far. I'll post some ideas when I have more time and am not tired.

I might be able to make it depending on the location.

EDIT: Meaning where abouts in Chicago. I live in a suburb about 40 minutes away, so getting to the city is a problem. I just don't feel like going to an Anime convention for this.

We won't be going to any anime conventions. (Or any convention at all for that matter.) It's just going to be a regular meet-up based around multiple places depending on what we all want to do.

If possible, I'd like to find some places downtown to go to at least on Saturday. Friday depends on where everybody wants to initially meet. As I've mentioned previously in this thread, it'd be cool to have everybody first meet at a place with an arcade. It seems so far we have Gameworks, Dave & Busters, and DePaul University as our main "gaming locations", so you guys tell me where you'd like to meet at on Friday.

Gameworks most definitely. Since Dave & Busters has that restaurant, you can't get into the arcade area without having somebody over 21 with you (or at least that's how it used to be). DePaul has a hacked ITG machine IIRC, but GW would be a much better option, especially since it's right off the highway.

I was just thinking if most people that are going to be going are planning on getting a hotel room why not try to have everyone get into the same hotel then like meetup in the lobby at a certain time and go wherever from there?

I haven't been to any but Im 23 so dave and busters s fine by me. All are fine with me but I'd prefer the cheapest and if a last resort depaul university...unless the HIP has the arcade up and running again XD

I think Hammy will have more information on hotels eventually. I hesitate to tell people to meet somewhere because that just means you'll be hopping on the train to go to a hotel just to hop back on the train to go wherever we're going. But if we end up staying in the same hotel it would work out fine, as long as you damn kids leave me the hell alone when I want to sleep. Papa Chaz needs his beauty rest, after all.

Oh, and if Dave & Busters just requires someone 21+ to be there, we will have no problem. Hammy is 22 and I'm old.
