Dashboard Confessional is Onboard
As the realm of FFR artists expands, we are continually amazed by the bands that are stepping in and giving us permission for both the widgets and the game. To say the least, I was nearly knocked out of my chair when Dashboard Confessional was confirmed by their label Vagrant Records. Definitely a fantastic addition here. I will keep this short because I know you all know who Dashboard Confessional is. Enjoy the easy levels and fear not, difficult levels are right around the corner. I will post an update link when the widget goes live on the Dashboard myspace page.

So ShAiOnEi are you also going to complain about the Mary J Blige permission? Are you saying that we need to cater ONLY to the genre that you like? We really need to think about the wider population here at FFR. There is a reason we support so many genres, hell, our game is organized into genres. I just ask that you be fair about it and realize that everyone likes a different type of music.

Synth I just didn’t like the idea of bringing so many of these scene/emo bands into the community. But it’s you’re website and it’s your choice to bring in more traffic here so I guess if this is what you had to do..alright but as long as you could maybe balance it out with some good metal. Although it’s really hard to get permissions I could actually get some good bands for FFR. I’m not trying to tell you to cater to bands I like, just actually maybe go into different music that isn’t mainstream pop culture.

Shai, if you look through the widget lists, you will see all kinds of metal bands. We are working directly with Metalblade records to provide all kinds of new metal artists.

Na, I wasn’t pissed. I just tend to be someone who thinks that everyone should be open to all kinds of music. I am definitely not upset at Shai. If we all thought alike, it would be a boring.
sns, we will be adding all kinds of new features to the playback section this week including myspace embed links, comments on playback, directly URL for playback and much more. In the meantime I will try and keep public testing for the record portion on as much as possible.

i agree with Synth on this one.
Thats why i dont play Guitar Hero. its ONLY catered to one type of genre and personally, i dont like many guitar solo songs(Dragonforce is the exception of course)
Thats why i LOVE FFR
techno, trance, dance, happy hardcore, classic songs
i love the variety and with more permissions comming, that means EVEN MORE songs in different genres

Yeah…well, I don’t know who these people are. Anyway…With new genres of music comes more songs that some people absolutely despise. Some people worry about their average rank, and guess what? Those people, unfortunately, have to deal with playing songs they hate in order to get up in ranks…I dunno if that is fair :\
Idea: Make average ranks for each genre. For example on your profile it will have Dance2: (avg rank here), Dance: (avg rank here), Hip-Hop: (avg rank here), etc. That would make more people happy

I haven’t heard of anyone on ffr before I heard it here, except perhaps Mary J Blige, but that’s only a name, not a song. That and Mannheim Steamroller (everyone knows at least one of their songs.)
Please avoid Dragonforce at all costs. That’s what Guitar Hero 3 is for.
The Funk category needs some beefing up (Bela Fleck!), as does hip-hop. Rock is getting insane. I have no idea where songs are anymore. Ideally, we get R3 out with a better gui to select songs.

I actually agree. We have a little too many emo/punk/metal bands and not enough classic! but then again that would be hard to get

When you guys voice your opinions on genre’s and artists, I listen. If I hear enough people say Dragonforce, I will go after the rights to promote them with FFR. At the same time though, I will try and create balance by going after Mannheim Steamroller or Mary J Blige.
If you guys want to take this opp to vote on an artist, I will do what I can to hook us up with them. Voice your opinions. Help me do my job better for you guys.

Get stuffed, there is no way you got Dashboard on FFR.
This site is gaining momentum it seems.
Oh and anyone who complains about new/more music on FFR are spoilt little brats who should be glad the game is expanding. The more artists FFR getson board the more likely FFR can get the artsits they want.

i for one believe you guys have done a great job in balancing the genres. Keep it up.. FFR is moving in a really great direction. i suppose the only type of music i haven’t seen is real punk. Only pop/punk (or am i mistaken?) Go for some TSOL or something.. anything, anyone.
P.S. Dragonforce would definitely be cool :]
