2) oh my god of course whitney houston is going to be featured in the news whereas your parents aren't. do you really think the news is going to cover Every Person That Dies. no they will cover people who made an impact on the world or our country at large, as houston did through her music

I'm not saying my parents should be in the news when they die. I'll deal with my grief privately. As I'm sure the people who ACTUALLY KNOW Whitney would love to do, but instead they are bombarded with constant news about her death for the next month. There are more earth shattering events which "impact our world or our country at large" that are going on on a daily basis that deserve more attention than Whitney Houston.

I also don't get the "tragic event" of my parents dying blasted into the media and made a big ****ing deal for the next week while other more newsworthy events occur in the meantime.

Just because someone may not mean something to you, that doesn't mean they aren't important to many others. (Certain) famous people tend to impact a greater number of lives, albeit in a different way. We may never get the chance to meet people like Steve Jobs or Michael Jackson or Richard Feynman or Carl Sagan, etc, but we can still mourn their deaths in the sense that we greatly admire their character and/or respect what they've contributed to the world, and are sincerely sad to see the world lose such influential/talented/strong people.

Saying "lol who the **** cares??" is pretty much admitting your own ignorance and being an ass for no reason. You may as well have said "I don't know anything about the evolution of music but I'm going to act like that gives me the high ground to undercut others who are sad over the loss!" It just makes you look dumb.

So no, you're not an idiot for maintaining a dissenting opinion. You're being an tard for acting like ignorance is a badge of honor and for being openly insensitive/disrespectful to those that justifiably care.
