The only Ibanez that my GC here has are either hollow or semi-hollow, and even though they're nice, it's not the sound I want out of an electric.

I'm currently saving up every bit of money I have to get a PodXT Amp modeler and Effect box so I can start creating some more tones. All I got is a Boss DS-1 >.>
I used to shop a lot at Guitar Center, and I've found that they've gone downhill to the point that I really just can't get anything out of going there anymore. Plus anything you purchase off the walls has been played to death. I prefer to go to different guitar shops, try out the general type of guitar, and then order it online, pristine and untouched.

Yea, that's what I'm going to do. First guitar I bought I bought off the wall at GC. Epiphone Les Paul. It's a nice guitar, but I need a major upgrade. I'm just gonna go around to Sam Ash and GC until I find a guitar I like then buy it off of musiciansfriend

Epiphones tend to be cheap knockoffs, and I think the entire line of Gibson guitars are extremely overpriced. It's a solid guitar, but that's about it.

Find an Ibanez RG or any of the Ibanez prestige models and you'll find that they're incredible with wonderful necks.

Jacksons aren't bad, but my hardware on my JEM is so much better than any Jackson I've played.

I'll definitely give some Ibanez a try then. Do they handle distortion well? I'm not talking overly done Death Metal distortion, but like a Children of Bodom or Avenged Sevenfold distortion. And yea, Gibson are heavily overpriced, but they are pretty nice guitars. I'm getting pretty sick of both Gibson and Fender pretty quick though, so I should give Ibanez more of a shot.

The Ibanez RG is an incredible guitar for both clean and distortion. RG is a great rhythm guitar, and the alder-bodied JEM is an incredible lead. The S series and its cousins are the perfect lead guitar. Try a Prestige S.

Gibsons and Fenders aren't as great as everyone makes them out to be, unless they're talking about the highest quality older and custom shop ones. And those usually run at LEAST $3500. I saw a custom shop remake of somebody's old beat up Telecaster, complete with cigarette burns and other crap, and it cost $14,000. That's horse****.

I have an All-American Fender Telecaster, and that's the only fender guitar I really care to own. I'd rather go for Ibanez and other fast-playing graceful guitars.

Oh, and Zakk Wylde's bullseye custom for $4500? My $2500 JEM plays like ten times the guitar as the bullseye does. The only thing worth a damn on Wylde's guitar are the super hot ceramic pickups.

I want to get a custom edition Ibanez, but I'm already spending about $6,000 on a new music computer and other components already, so I'll have to hold off before I look into a new guitar and amp.

It's like there should be a thread about guitars or something.

Would that go in chit chat, Mal? I can't think of anywhere else it might go other than Media since it is related to music in an indirect way.

Chit chat, I think, would be fine.
