Tass = 5th, and he's not around either.
Lost: packet, 42 bytes, last seen on a saturated OC3.
    Reward: $$10,000,000,000.

I think anyone that wouldn't allow you in would be stupid.

You're more active than a lot of the people that are here, even if you got the reputation of not being the most intelligent one around.

And on that note, you're doing fine as far as I'm concerned. You're plenty intelligent enough to play twg, and if you try you play just as good as the next guy.

As far as sign-ups being screened, I think it should just be the inactive people who aren't let in; playing twg isn't something you just do. You have to get good at the game, and you have to play to get good. We can't just disallow entry to people because we feel they aren't as smart as some people here.

        Re: TWG XL Postgame

If you re-read my suggestion, I think you'll find that nowhere did I suggest not letting people in. I merely suggested that the people that have serious activity problems be let in 24 hours after the second signup period has opened, giving the serious players more time to sign up before the non-serious people join. I've never noticed that JWC has had a problem with activity and thus would surely propose he be let in with the serious crowd. This was not a suggestion based in skill in the slightest. It was based solely on activity.

I'm not entirely sure what TWC is really needed for but I'm sure we cna find enough willing and able people among the serious players we have now. And as nforcer (I think) mentioned, we can run some adds through the other places on the site and attract more jTWG players should there be enough interest. Just some thoughts.

Well, Stoic, then we disagree on that. Activity is one thing, but stupidity is another. People like jwc, DBP, and Mini won't be let in my game. I thought DBP over, because he is a little better than he used to be, but then I just read up there that he thinks jwc is "doing well". It made me laugh, and then it convinced me that he, along with the other two, bring the game down to 5th grade-level.

Yeah, well you're a bitch. You bring the game down to a 1st grade level.

No offense, but what about the people that would probably throw you into that category as well? Would you appreciate it if you weren't given the chance to improve? Blood relationship aside, DBP is a much smarter person than you'll ever be and quite probably a better player in every sense of the word. Just because he doesn't put up with your "girl on internet syndrome"-inducing irrationality, doesn't make him a bad player.

People like JWC (not so much mini) are eager to get better and immerse themselves in the game so that they can enjoy the game as well as progress in it. Deeming them unworthy to play because of your assessment of their skill is incredibly arrogant and inappropriate. Good luck getting voted to host with that attitude. Everyone had to go through the torture of their first game at some point and everyone catches on at their own rate, with varying degrees of inborn skill from person to person. Shooting down someone's desire to grow is extremely insulting to the person as well as your group of peers.

Don't get me wrong, JWC does and says things at 15 that I wouldn't have fathomed of at half his age, but that will certainly not stop me from judiciously fighting for his presence in games. He's active and he's trying to get better and I also believe that he's improving. The prime beginnings of a respectable critical thinker and TWGer.

PS: In shock for the JWC compliment.

PPS: I take it back, don't IM me.

Edit @ JWC: Go ahead and delete that post. If you'd like to continue playing here, you'd be better served by not exemplifying yourself so blatantly. I'd love to have active people play, but successive comments like that will swing nearly anyone's opinion against you.

If that's the case Jurs, I say we get the smartest people on the forums to decide who has an adequate intellect for playing TWG then. They'd let hardly any of us in; it's all a matter of degree, and just because somebody isn't arguably as intelligent as you doesn't mean they shouldn't be allowed to play the game. As long as the person isn't a complete idiot, I'd say let em in as long as they'll be active.

@jTWG / TWC ideas: I haven't been here long enough to say, but it all sounds good to me.

                    Re: TWG XL Postgame

I don't completely agree with you. DBP isn't DUMB, but he isn't extremely intelligent. Jwc, on the other hand, is one of the most annoying players you'd ever have to deal with in a game. Although I and another person in my alliance (I forget who) in a past game were convinced you were a wolf, he refused to vote for them. Who was right? I was. I tried to unblock him to try and convince him as to why the person should be voted, yet he was too dense to see that they were an obvious wolf. (I'm pretty sure it was you, Stoic.) All I can remember is Kilga and I getting fed up with how annoying and dim-witted he is. DBP does the same thing a lot of the time, as well. Like I said before, he isn't as bad as he used to be, but he still hinders a lot of people with useless things. Isn't it obvious as to why a majority of the veterans DON'T PLAY ANYMORE? It's because people like jwc, Mini, and DBP are playing. You're not even a veteran, you're fairly new, so you DON'T know what it was like to play back then. The intelligence quota of the TWG games has severely dropped since jTWG was taken away. I'd rather have an intelligent person who posts once or twice per TWG day play than an idiot clustering up the thread with pointless arguments and annoying people on AIM with useless conversations. I know you're just trying to stick up for your brother, but you can't speak from much experience because you don't know how much different the game is without players like Tass, blah, chardish, Kefit, and Hans being active in the game. It's pretty much gone to ****.

I agree that there are people that may not be really ready for TWG (and some of you may put me in that category) and maybe what should happen is you have a group of people that are either consistantly inactive/not very good and they can only play if people are needed after everyone else signs up/as replacements. That way, people who aren't very good can follow the game a bit more from the outside, and hopefully learn that way. As for the people who are constantly inactive, they should be the last people that are allowed into the game.

No offense meant to to above named people, but I played a TWG before jTWG was abolished that included Tass, Blah, Ap, and Hans and Chardish I believe, and it was an extreme disappointment whence compared to the blind priase people like you offer them. They are not as good as they would have you to believe, quite clearly demonstrated by ap's recent performance. I won't argue that the caliber of players has noticeably declined over the last few games, but I don't see where you have any reason or authority to decline entrance based on skill. And yes, I have been around for only 10 or so TWGs, but that's plenty long enough to understand how things work here. If there is enough interest for jTWG to reform, then certain people can play there, but until then, everyone willing to play should be allowed to do so. (Willing to play does not mean willing to sign up, it means willing to post one or more meaningful posts per game day.)

Well, yeah, that's because you didn't play during their "prime days", which is what I was talking about. You know, when they actually were quite active and really helpful and played really well.
