At this point though I almost want to side with any lynch just to get something to happen...

    Dear sirs,
One of my checks was returned marked "insufficient funds".

In view of current events in the banking market, does that refer to me or to you?

        So. Check this out.

I made my vote purely to get some day 1 information from him, just in case we need to go back and analyze it in the future.

        Let's recap.
        1) TPS says he was trying to bait Manti into providing info which could be used later in the game,
        2) Manti posted essentially nothing concerning this particular game, and
        3) TPS "was appeased and moved on."

Want to know what I think? I think TPS had to backtrack because he was put on the spot. TPS said he did something (voting for Manti to get information to analyze later) which he didn't actually do. He lied. He didn't get any information from Manti, but he found a better (read: easier to lynch) target.

        Here's something else.

TPS has been leading a push against YMIA throughout most of this phase. Okay. He's also been vocally trying to draw connections between YMIA and multiple other people. Much less okay.

Finding associations makes sense after a cardflip takes place. If the flip was red, then you can go back and see interactions between the dead wolf and other players. If the flip was green, you can analyze the votes and try to figure out who knowingly killed this dead townie, as well as trying to figure out who already knew the flip would be green and stayed away.

Finding associations doesn't make much sense before a cardflip has taken place. If your one big hunch happens to be wrong, then your little rabbit hole is going in a very bad direction. I made this mistake last game (linking James to Kraut when they were both town and both still alive) and paid the price. TPS has played in many games of TWG. I'm betting he knows better than this.

Not to mention... take a look at some of his wolf plays from the last game:

I'm seeing too many parallels between TPS this game and TPS last game to ignore. TPS says he changed his meta. I think that was a lie, too. TPS didn't receive any votes last game until Day 4. He was never forced to be out in the open. Here, he got some heat right away. He tried to brush aside my vote on him. V is a more vocal and more renowned player than I am, though. As soon as V launched an offensive against TPS, TPS felt like he had to fight for his life. You can see it in the whole back-and-forth between them.

There's a real sense of desperation in the above quote. Townies should struggle against being lynched, sure. But not like that. That's the kind of all-or-nothing play that wolves have to make.

I've seen enough. TPS needs to go.

Re: TWG XCVIII: A bunch of people in a room playing mafia

I can't tell if the fact that the more renowned players in this game are reading me so wrong is a reflection of my poor play, or their poor assessments.

Here's the formula to figure me out:

          1. Does he seem brash and unnecessarily assertive?? If yes, then human.
          2. Does he seem reserved and logical? If yes, then wolf.

That's essentially my two playstyles. With boring vanilla roles, I manufacture drama and take wild shots in the dark on the first day.

What basis do you have to say that?

The rest of Dance's post is decent speculation, but you're confusing bad plays and frustration with wolfiness. I mean come on man, you were just a wolf with me in the last c9++; does this seem at all like the mindset I had and played with? I'm almost more insulted that you all think I'd play this poorly as a wolf than I am mad at myself for putting myself in this situation.

My main problem going forward now is that with it being day 1, I can't add anything more constructive to help aid my efforts to prove my humanitarian interests, and thus forces me to just make these defensive "don't be an idiot and fuckup a day phase" posts.

I am a Vanilla Townie. I'll keep saying it until you believe me or lynch me.

not applicable. you only had one vote on you the whole game, and it was from freakysnots when freaky had no support from anywhere. you also affected an emotional reaction pretty convincingly there, albeit more briefly.

your meta-points about your playstyle are honestly pretty convincing. they appeal directly to my doubts similarly to your post directed toward me at the start of D4 last game. my vote will stay put.

really appreciate that you've taken a backseat for a while. V told me to do the same thing at one point last game, and it literally took all of my self-control.

but now might be the time to drop a bomb on someone, whether it's TPS (HINT HINT) or someone else. under 24 hours remaining in the phase.

also no sign of Manti, which probably would've gotten things moving

I guess the one selfishly good thing that could come from me being lynched and cardflipped as vanilla townie is to completely destroy your sense of reading me in future games.

                    Don't do it though.

Of course I have been here!

Either way, I feel that now TPS is relying too much on meta in an effort to defend himself. I know there isn't much to use when there has been less than a phase, but yeah...relying on meta as the defense isn't the way to convince people. A mention is okay, two is passable, three is...meh, but mentioning it over, and over, and to top it saying "I'm Vanilla Townie, don't lynch me, I'll flip Vanilla Townie! and other variants isn't helping him.

Before Dance's post #410, I honestly can't say I was supporting a TPS lynch, but now...

Also, I still can go for a yoman lynch, unless something happens that turns around my opinion of him. Maybe next day it can happen, eh.

I like how people are agreeing with a statement that essentially says "TPS's points about his wolf past and current game seems right. Almost too right . He must be a wolf!".

I know i'm pretty close to an insta right now (2 away?), but please take some time to analyze who has jumped on this bandwagon against me, at what point they did, and with what reasoning. I'm sure there is at least one wolf voting for me, because it's such an easy and safe vote to make (especially right now, when they don't have to case the final vote on someone they know will flip human). It allows them to blend in perfectly and avoid vote analysis/linkages later on in the game.

As someone who was a wolf in the last C9++, and a wolf in the last game, I'd like to think I know a little bit about the wolf mindset at this point. Please just listen to my advice, even if you don't believe me about my role. It's only in the best interest of rooting out wolves.

I'm moving away from TPS. I don't think the lynch will happen, all of the veterans who I thought would potentially agree with my logic haven't, and haven't commented on it, which means they don't find it interesting or compelling.

I feel a degree of confidence, but I also know that feeling strongly and putting out your most convincing argument and catching no more fish is pretty much a sign that you will not get this lynch to go through, so in the interest of moving the game along I am going to consider the 2nd most wolfy persons for day one.

This post convinced me yoman was human. The last time I saw someone give a read like this it was Red over on FFYa when I was manti's wolf partner and clearly fucking attacking her to diminish her credibility.

As a newer player, you don't pull a read like that out of your ass as a wolf. That's a pretty complicated read, and you usually only do it while you are being attacked. You don't see a human attacking a human and go "hey, i think this guy is right and i think that guy is shitting on him when i agree with what he has to say and it sounds reasonable." As a wolf you would tend to agree with TPS that my reads are bad if TPS is not your wolf partner.

So this cleared yoman for me, for today.

This indicates that Eva is human. First game of TWG and feigning impatience? Definitely not a wolf.

I didn't get a wolf vibe from J-rodd which is giving me the feeling for now that fiction is human (on top of his posts which definitely increased the interest level of the thread) which really leaves the remaining list looking something like:

                              drizzle
                              manti

                              james
                              kraut

drizzle is hard to read but the openness and forthrightness of a comment like this
It just seems like j-rodd isn't very catious. I don't see how saying j-rodd isn't catious when most people have to be catious is raising my own suspicion.
says that this player is comfortable with themselves. This was in response to a question from the IC. drizzle hasn't contribute anything of interest in regards to how s/he sees others which leaves the suspicion there, but this comment leaves me thinking that mindset seems human enough for today.

manti i'm going to leave alone entirely in terms of votes because i never lynch manti on day 1. the lack of trying to guide the direction after 250+ posts says more towards manti's wolfiness than his humanness because as a wolf i would imagine he wants to be a little more passive at the onset, especially since this behavior is accepted by enough players for him on day 1 it seems.

viccica reads either way. she is a little more aggressive which indicates more than average wofiness for me, but i also insulted her as much as i could in the early game so her playstyle might have been spurred. either way i don't have a single instance of her mindset that screams wolf to me, most of it seems neutral (including her votes.) still think her performance could be much better.

which pretty much leaves james and kraut.

last time kraut was a wolf in a C9++ he was extremely active and had a lot of reads on day 1, and this got him under a lot of fire.

james is no where near as active as he was last game, and his posts have mostly been 1.) excuses for why he can't play 2.) really non-committal and bad reasoning 3.) fluff

There has not been a commitment to anything, and he has bounced around a bit.

This one was weird. Point out a thing and say it might be suspicious (it wasn't) and then also note that it could be PuRe CoiNciDenCe.

                              another weird one

Shut up you idiot. That is nowhere near correct lmfao. Yoshl is Innocent Child, a confirmed humam/mason role. And I never got a mafia role so I would be clueless to as how to be a mafia in the first place huehue
Missing the point of fiction's statement entirely and overreacting to it. And extremely heightened sensitivity and also pointing out that he has never gotten a mafia role before, which is weird because he also pointed out pages earlier that he has only ever been innocent townie.

He doesn't point this out in every game, why feel the need to point it out now? I see these things and have the strong sense that they might come from him thinking, at the beginning of this game, how he has never been mafia before and how this is going to be hard for him because he doesn't know what to do.

He has many potential indicators of being mafioso, and I don't find many positive indicators towards humans.

Because I feel like my read on krauthammer last game was so wrong, I am deferring my behavioral analysis of him mostly because his posts are less interesting than James May.

So, here we go James May!
