Cold Heart is nothing like Ultrasounds, though. There's nothing really to compare this file in this range of difficulty. grind2 v2 is as close you can get it seems.

In the sense that Ultrasounds is a file with fast jump/stream compared to changes, jacks, and that 48th wall in Cold Heart.

I was talking more in the sense of the difficulty of both files is only ramped around a few key sections of the song.

ok so I'm home and honestly don't care to elaborate super heavily -- that mid-section's barrage of bursts is really rough, and I'm pretty sure there aren't any files in this difficulty with unrelenting technicality like this.

Exclusivity of techniques isn't an accurate rating factor though, and I understand that. With the density and overall pattern choices (which are reasonably smooth, but still pretty precise/tight), I think Cold Heart is probably fitting as an upper 82 or lower 83. 81 is way too low for this song, and yeah, 84 is admittedly too high (oh well).

I do agree with AJ -- some patterns in here are awkward enough to warrant something higher than 81 (I'm surprised nobody has mentioned those [13][14][12] patterns).

I have no idea how this could be compared to Ultrasounds! and no argument in this thread has even remotely compelled me to think otherwise.

without my 2 cents, I'd probably call it out being in high 79/80 because all my 80's scores except the select few are absolute garbage compared to my score on cold heart.

The jacks in the song aren't really an issue for everyone, because it's hand biased, and you can set mirror or not.

The only real issue is the bursts, and the two mini jumpgluts for me, because based on your mirror or not, your other hand gets the jack for the jumpglut.

The song is also short, so yeah.

If Cutthroat is an 81, this should probably be an 82.

Although the problem I have with that is that Ah Shwe Bah is 81, and its bursts are on average harder than Cold Heart's.

And Sleepmix [83] is harder than Cold Heart, because not only are there some really nasty bursts that stand up to Cold Heart's, those bursts are surrounded by jumpstreams and such that drain away at your focus. Cold Heart, being purely burst-based, allows for in-game recovery from burst to burst.

I have done this countless times already, and I'm still having the most issue with the first half of the song. It's either mess up on the 1-400 non-mirror, or it's mess up on the 400-1034 on mirror.

I'm still holding my opinion on 81-83, but it would have to be a high 81 if it were considered that low. 82/83 is more optimal, especially how everyone is skilljumping like mad lately.

really doesn't feel like I'm skilljumping like mad, just a couple of songs lately have been called to be harder than they actually are.

Ehhen Doyadosu? Tenguijiman is harder than Cold Heart and is an 82.

Halcyon [xi] is harder than Cold Heart and is an 81.

Might be just me, idk anymore. I think Cold Heart is high 80/low 81.

Does the difficulty go by FC'ing? AAA'ing? Something else? Cause the file is really easy in terms of speed, patterns, manipulation possibility, length etc etc in terms of how it plays it feels.. insanely easy. Electro v2, Wraith etc other files people have mentioned are much harder to FC because they demand more stamina or speed etc they demand SOMETHING. However Cold Heart in my opinion is harder to AAA because with uneven rhythms, room for pattern manipulation, etc there is more room for stupid error to drop a good/boo.

For a personal example, it's technically and easily more FC'able than something like Etude for the Sinners (85), but I would probably be more likely to AAA Etude because it is much more straightforward. JS, a few jacks, and one fastish stream, as opposed to the "unpredictability" of Cold Heart. I say that in quotes because I'm familiar with the song from StepMania, and it is stepped well imo, so it's easily understood for me.

If I had to give a difficulty, I would personally rate it mid 81 to low 82. I don't think D6 would have so many AAAs so quickly and the worst passing score being 3 goods within the first hour of release if it were actually an 84. With that being said, it has (thus far) been very annoying and frustrating to attempt an AAA on, which is what I want with the tourney, a struggle xD so I'm happy with the choice.

I don't get how you guys see it as 81 or lower lol. The bursts are pretty rough (way harder than sleepmix's.)

Note: Just because it's easier to AAA than some songs doesn't make it automatically lowered difficulty. If it wasn't a tourney song, it probably wouldn't have more than 10 AAA's for a long time.

Hi19hi19: And to give the ever present personal reason, I got a better score on Djentrap in 4 tries than I had on both of these files that I had played twice as much.
Hell it took me 23 tries to get a score with over twice as many goods on bmv.578 and I still haven't gotten a clean FC on Powerpoints because of how easy it is to split the jumps.

And as always, the pointless personal argument: I'm terrible at technical files, I don't even have an SDG on Beautiful Arrhythmia, but I AAAd Cold Heart within an hour of playing it.

personal experiences hold no credence in an argument about ratings, they're just there for informational purposes.
