I'm going to pick apart the layers of the song next run and see what he's following... I think there's consistency issues.
edit: the double tap at the end of the second stream feels weird and the eighths after the second stream don't feel right either. I think it's because half the time they go to a synth and half to the drums and it just feels weird to have to be continually shifting back and forth in your head between sound lines.
Well, I both like and hate the steps at the same time. Much different from the original, which is good except that I kinda like the original. Anyways steps fit song, but the patterns killed me. Still did good enough to bag 12th... for now atleast. I gotta work on the fc...
I think the steps for this version are better than the original. For some reason, I thought in some parts, some of the streams really matched up with the notes of the song. However, it is a little boring to play, as it had a high-leveled rating, but overall, the steps are pretty good, at least in my opinion.
I'm still conflicted, because the patterns weren't natural for me so I really can't get into the song and always have to be 'on-edge' for any screwy patterns but as far as the steps I loved how they actually matched the song and so the middle-end is pretty well done. Prolly why it was guru because of the weird patterns
EDIT: meh after playing it more I've come to the conclusion that just because the patterns aren't natural to me shouldn't make it a good song. I just don't like cross-overs lol even if there are only a few of them.
I'm sorry those are without a doubt, the worst steps I have seen on FFR. None of the patterns seem to really fit, and the patterns themselves were so bizarre, i had trouble actually playing the song. Aperson, I know you have better steps then this man.
the patterns made perfect sense u just suck i almost fced it the first time what a fun fun song i think i liked it so much because AP did a lot of the same patterns i do in my song edits for ddr
edit: how in the hell do you hit the damn crossovers like 15 seconds from the end of the song do i have to double tap hurry lemme know so i can fc it
Well, since I'm too lazy to get my headphones out of my bag, I played it with my speakers. Very good steps. The one problem I had with it was that sometimes when he picked and chose what to step to, it would make the steps feel kind of choppy. The best example is the part around when you get a 510 combo. It starts to step to the percussion, then changes to just the melody really fast, and back to the percussion, etc. It wasn't hard to follow, it just made it feel awkward.
Other parts, I felt that technique worked out great. I loved how a stream would break or turn to crossovers for a percussion roll thingy. Yeah, so I don't know music terminology. You know what I mean. I felt the streams worked really well. The difficulty fits the song perfectly.
Anyone who says Hyro's steps are better (lol BPM) should not be posting an opinion, okay.
Edit: Nevermind, FFR just loaded the steps wrong first play, they could still be synced better though. The patterns make sense and were made to be index friendly, they work fine 4 fingered though so shut up. Also there is order to the melody/percussion switching, play it some more and figure it out... It's not my fault everyone's stuck in some stupid paradigm where up has to be the higher melody note than down, that's counterintuitive to index style anyways.
Before you diss the song, Let me say this: LD synced the thing wrong. He synced it a quarter note ahead. The patterns make a hell of a lot more sense if he synced the damn thing the right way. Because of this, the patterns don't make sense to the song, and if the beat still feels correct then it's either pure chance or you are stupid.
i guess that might explain my horrable score, or its just me.
prolly the latter of the two... and sync it better
Oh so yeah I missed the part about there being a second page.
Why the hell is everyone complaining about the patterns? Not only do they fit well, but they're really easy XD Or is everyone on FFR 4 finger or something? I'll go play it normal 4 finger and see how it works out, but for me, they're like the easiest patterns possible.
To zzlegendofmax: saying as how you asked if you had to double tap, this is going on the assumption that you play index. Correct me if this is otherwise. To do the crossovers index, you need to actually do the crossovers.
Numbers stand for their location on the numpad. To do a 68486, you hit the 6 with your right index, the 8 with your left index, the 4 with your right index, the 8 with your left, and the 6 with your right. Double tapping it is possible, I'm sure, but it'd be tricky to pull off and it would hurt your PA.
I was trying to sightread, saying as how I tried it twice, but even when I try to do that I end up trying to follow the song. I got 8 goods second try, so I don't think the sync was too off. I wasn't really paying too much attention to it, though.
