What's the reasoning for phasing out the older engines again? It doesn't hurt anybody to have people play on older engines; the only people that it possibly hurts are the people playing on the older engine and if they want to choose to "hurt themselves" then let them.

Can someone tell me why we need to remove the older engines? I don't see any obvious argument for it at the moment.

You can't make way for the new without ditching the old.

Okay to end this discussion about legacy engine. If there was a way to measure the EXACT same speed on the r3 as the legacy i might be able to get used to it and switch. But as it stands its pretty much a guessing game because its taller and wider than legacy. I use 2.0 speed on Legacy, so whats equivalent to that on r3?

Change how the game encodes and whatnot so framers will never ever be an issue ever again.

60FPS as to oppose to 30FPS with no hiccups in files. (I like how it is right now though, with you, if you really want to, play songs in 30FPS still, but I can see that being phased out eventually too, oho).

Longer charts being supported (it's possible now actually, but older engines can't do it).

Yo Sk8r I got your back. Shit I have tried R3 as well, played it for about a half a week. Just did not get scores that I normally am capable of. Went back to Legacy and played even better than before. Receptor spacing is honestly just something my mind is having trouble getting past. But I suppose the more SM I play the more likely I would want to switch to R3 and 60fps?

I'm just an old boy now

Re: Let harder files in ?

I use 1.75x on Velocity and 2.25x on R^3, so a .5x increase in speedmod is a good start.

For R^3 my perfect hits are all over the place while on Velocity they're more concentrated in middle perfect frame hits. That may be because of rounding from playing the engine at 30 FPS as opposed to 60 FPS, but I still found nothing wrong with the older engines; legacy is just too cramped so fast files feel weird on it.

                            So maybe 2.50x? :P

I'm not going to bother explaining why framers are ultimately impossible to avoid.
The only way to move into 60fps files is to completely ditch legacy and velocity engines. All engines support long files, with older engines using a much hackier method that isn't the most reliable.
