Server Upgrade This Afternoon

Site and Server Stable – Still Waiting for an upgraded license that runs a component of FFR Multi-Player
*EDIT SYNTHLIGHT* – We are back from the datacenter with a new raid installed to alleviate some of the pain during our record breaking week. We had almost 1700 people online at the same time earlier today. The new drives have brought our system load down considerably but we are still waiting for that license so that we can update our multiplayer. This may take awhile so please be patient. Until then you can play normal single player and it should work just fine.

i think that its good that the site might be down a little bit. its awesome… because then ffr will not need updates every week. they could get it all done now… unless synth decides to get a new quad something…. either way, i think that you guys should take the quad xeon and buy another one. keep one for individual stats, and the forum. then, you should take the second one and put MP on it… and vid chat and anything else. i think that should make the site run a lot smoother.

I am doing everything possible. I have hopping trains today and taking apart FFR at the datacenter just so the server doesn’t crash tonight under the extreme load it is put under. We do as much as we can for a free product, believe me. I will get that license so that multiplayer can go back on but it might take awhile. We have to wait for the license to come through in email. Again, this only affects multiplayer, not single player.

it pisses me off that other players see that synthlight is trying their best to make their players happy and some of the players are pushing them to the max!!! take your time synthlight and good luck with this update

wow i dont get this.. why do you need a train to go to a data center? are the ffr admins home worked? why dont you just builg like an office building and stash all the data and runtime servers there? then all the employies have to move to work?xD wait that is bad…. psh synth move close to the data center.lol

Uhh, first, FFR uses FDC servers that are located in Chicago, Synthlight (Im assuming) Bought some servers from that company that was hosted in chicago…, so he must go there in order to maintain them! (If this is wrong Synth, then im a silly noob)

Its Friday night, this is really getting annoying. Anyone that is going “plz hurry up im bored stupid noobie admins” should get kicked. FFR was and is a non-profit organization. These guys pay right of their wallets to keep us busy, I bet most people never thought about donating. Besides, they don’t update this old FFR as much anymore, even a small update would do us good. Now is a good excuse to go 1 player and pratice so you can do a better job at rank whoring.

Chill out kids. It’s the weekend, FFR shouldn’t even be on your radar. I guarentee you if you go out all weekend and not touch FFR, it’ll be nice and updated for you on Monday.
