Engine Support Update
Posted in Flash Flash Revolution, Game Announcements on February 17th, 2011
For a while on Velocity’s engine we have added code that makes it impossible to get the location of the raw level files. Velocity has recently added this support into the legacy engine as well. Some time tomorrow, I will be moving the level files and hiding them so that it is no longer possible to download the raw level files. This will cause all legacy engine versions older than the latest release to no longer work, so if you have downloaded a standalone, please make sure it is the latest version.
Please note that anyone found hosting or distributing the raw level files for this site will be permanently banned.
Cheers,
aperson

Does this mean FFR will be cracking down on custom engines with custom raw levels? Or are you just worried about the official levels?

Does this mean FFR_The_Update.php will become default now?

Both of FFR’s engines support the new file retrieval system. I have no problem with custom engines designing their own versions and files. I do have a problem with people downloading the raw level files on FFR.

Find it funny how its ok for people to take the FFR engine, edit it up maybe then host it for their own use somewhere but its a problem to download the levels themselves to play. I would honestly be more concerned about the use of the engine elsewhere rather then worry about the levels getting downloaded. Dont see what the big deal is.

Im not sure if my link is the most current one for the stand alone

Plan: There’s nothing that can be done about people distributing the engine, and it’s nice to have distributed source in case something happens to FFR again some how. Regardless all recent versions of the engine are encrypted, so only old versions are available to decompile the source of.

where can i find the standalone?

Understood.

So a flash 8 standalone player no longer works? What if Flash 10 lags for you? I have tried flash 10 stand alones and they lag so bad for me
Posted at 10:29pm on February 17th, 2011
It’s about time FFR started taking itself seriously.
Posted at 10:45pm on February 17th, 2011
Umm no MrMagic Flash 8 and Flash 9 Standalones will work. This is about the versions of the game engine not the versions of Flash.
Posted at 10:51pm on February 17th, 2011
Oh okay, that’s fine, I was sweating bullets there for a bit haha. I don’t get any sort of lag on any engine with Flash 8 (other then random misses on the velo engine for no reason) Thanks AP

Holy crap you know this is serious business when we are encrypting the source to our engines… You’d think this was a business again.

Kind of bummed about this because it means I can’t get the levels for my offline engine that I practice on…less lag and whatnot…

Eh.

Currently you can play any songs that aren’t released or you don’t have on offline engine, and it was a problem that should be fixed.
Posted at 7:59am on February 18th, 2011
Does this mean all offline engine’s distributors will be banned unless they remove their songs dl link?

@Genesis09, @Teh Avenger, @swiftd27:
Nothing has changed yet. If it no longer works, it’s your fault. The main post will be updated when it happens.

Well somethings wrong, and its not on my end. It seems we’re not the only ones either, seeing as how the arrow count is significantly down today

@swiftd27:
or it was because the game and site was down for a few hours.

My link for the Velocity engine seems broken.
Is it currently being updated or is there a new link?
Posted at 11:37am on February 21st, 2011
Take the link out of that post again, mine worked.

@Justin..
I had a slight typo.. whoops

so hypotheticly if someone built an HTML5 version of the engine would that be useful? i think it would run… o… about 1000% better than a flash version, the only major problem being that only people with a good browser would be able to use it.
Posted at 11:20am on March 25th, 2011
I was gonna go apeshart if I had to use the latest flash player standalone. Shit’s slow.

PLEASE leave all of the raw level file somewhere for grabbing! I get SO bored with the original songs from Foxfire667′s offline engine!
