i think most math is important but really shouldnt carry as much weight as it currently does in public school system
there needs to be more (widespread) applicable alternatives to math prereqs for graduation. maybe like a Budgeting class, etc. to help people live within their means in all walks of life
disagree. pure mathematical conceptualization* is fundamental in analytic troubleshooting and other forms of conceptualization. life skills can be learned outside of a classroom, in extra-curricular activities, your parents, counselor, etc.
* = general mathematics and sub-categorical derivatives which include, but not limited to, physics, biology, chemistry, psychology, and sociology
I think stuff like personal finance needs to be taught as a mandatory subject. I suspect many problems would get resolved by that alone.
Well they did teach me how to fill out a job application in technology class in high school, but we never got around to learning how to file your taxes. :<
