I was never very good in HS but when I started college I was quite determined to get good grades. I held a 4.0 but when I had the baby I started struggling and I expressed how it was important to me to still get good grades. I had my advisor as well as one of my professors say the grade doesn't matter as long as you're passing. I sat here like what is wrong with you people? So basically I should just do a shit job and get my degree and not give a shit if it's whatever the hell the lowest passing is. That really got to me big time.

they should take math, get rid of it, throw it out to the dogs where it belongs, and teach a class about something that people are ACTUALLY gonna use, like responsible facebook usage or somethin. that's what i wanna see.

Yea that seems weird, but are they suppose to advise you to continue to push yourself and be stressed while raising a baby? Are you doing anything with your degree?

technically the instructors are right, an employer will not care at all about your grades

however if you skirt by with barely passing, that will show in your work if you are using your education to the fullest

I stopped caring about math when I was introduced to the concept of imaginary numbers. What a crock of shit. If your equation can only be solved by inventing numbers that can't exist, like some kind of math deity , then you are fucking wrong and the math is flawed. Same for algebra solutions that basically say "the correct answer is whatever the correct answer is". Thats what the math said transcribed to words but god forbid if i wrote in down in english instead of the ancient math runes the teacher word mark me wrong.

Math is logical and numbers never lie my ass. Math is just as flawed as any other human construct.

I'm still working towards a degree. I had a lot of things that prevented me from going to college as soon as I should have unfortunately. My advisors have been nothing but shit so far and really just not helpful. I'm struggling a bit with my current classes because Saphira has finally decided to go through that terrible two stage + a 3 month old and AJ working 12hr days up to 5 days a week has really hit me hard. I asked for advice and options and I basically got nothing out of her lol. It's been 8 days since she even last bothered to respond to me.

I think one major problem with applying mathematics to the world outside of the classroom is that most objects aren't going to be whole representations, so pretending that they are leads to inaccurate results. Mathematics assumes a lot of things about real-life problems that most likely are not true.
