        The 360 failure rate is so horrible that I guarantee this is not the first time you will have the console fail on you.

        The record, I believe, for one person's 360 failure rate is 20 consoles. He's had to mail them in each time and get a replacement. The editor-in-chief of Kotaku, a gaming blog, is on his 11th console now.

        They're approaching the failure rate that Sony had on the PS2!

        That, coupled with the lack of good games, is why I don't want a 360.

            Whoa, whoa, last I heard, the highest number of console returns for one person was 4. Link me, please.

            And there's most certainly not a lack of good games, unless you're a bleeding heart FF fan or something of the sort.

                            You champion the PS2's hardware quality over Microsoft's consoles simply because the PS2 is made by Sony? That's awful shallow.

                                The only thing the 360 has are M-rated killin' games. All of them are generic and boring, and FPSes belong on PCs in the first place. I have zero interest in Halo. The only reason I am considering a 360 is for Rock Band, but it's not worth $500 for one game (Core + $200 game + set)

                                    Make sure that its out in the open. What happens is when it over heats it melts the sauter (sp?). If you have 3 (i assume you do) then take your hardrive out, and get your 360 to an open space. If you have 4 then your effed. After your 360 is out in the open and cooled down for quite a bit, then turn it on without the HD in it. If it works then sweet! Next turn it off and put the HD on. If it doesnt work then you need a new HD.

                                                    My PS2 is screwed up beyond belief (I screwed it up even more in an attempt to diagnose its problem), so I have the 360 and PS3 now. I usually play the N64 and play the Call of Duty series/WWII-era games on the two next-gen's.

                                                        I feel your pain... I had something like this happen to me last fall. There was a thread about it and such in GVG. I didn't read anything in this thread except for the first post so I'm pretty much just responding to that.

                                                            All my nintendo consoles, despite being left in the garage, roughing 120+ degree summers, they still work perfectly. I give them kudos for that.
