    Moogy: I hear that.

MCR: This is one thing most people will disagree with Moogy on. He says Ocarina of Time and FF7 sucked, while most people say they're the best games ever.

It's also one of the reasons most people don't take Moogy's opinions seriously, which is unfortunate.

Re: Sequels that ruined the spirit of the Franchise

The only time I take Moogy seriously is in the video games forums, where he's actually quite knowledgable and while I disagree on him a lot of times (like with the Ocarina of Time and Metroid: Fusion things), I realize he knows what he's talking about at the very least.

      Anyways, back on topic:

Doom 3. What a terrible game. FLASHLIGHT. OH CRAP MONSTER. IT'S HITTING ME WHILE I SWITCH WEAPONS. OH CRAP NOW MY FLASHLIGHT IS GONE, I HAVE TO SEE IT ONLY BY THE LIGHT COMING FROM MY MUZZLE. WHOO DEAD, TIME TO USE MY FLASHLIGHT. OH CRAP MONSTER. Rinse and repeat. Terrible, terrible game.

Everquest 2, but not so much because it was so radically different from its predecessor. In fact, the reason it's terrible is because it's the exact same game simply with updated graphics and more content. GG, Sony.

Re: Sequels that ruined the spirit of the Franchise

I can think of one game that ruined the first - Need For Speed Underground 2.

The first game was really good, perfect in a way, not too complicated, and and the same time, there was plenty to do, and enjoy.

The second game they went a step to far, they added a city to drive around in, when they should have been improving graphics and suchlike.

Also, people don't want to have to drive to races, i mean i know i couldn't be bothered, you just want to pick up and play, not drive around looking for races, which compared to the first game arn't that good anyway.

So yea, i think that NFSU2 ruined the first game.

EDIT: Yea, not really a Franchise but there where quite a few need for speed games before it, which where popular, so i guess it kind of counts :s.

I hope NFS Carbon will be better.

I think the Need for Speed franchise got ruined by Gran Turismo completely blowing it away in every possible manner and fashion, but I digress.

Oi, even though I love NFSU2 I'll have to agree with you on the 'spend more time looking then racing' crap that game has.

I just played King of Fighters 2006 after not playing KoF for a time. I dont think the 3D part is that great, makes it look like DBZ. the 2D ones were better.

I'm currently playing FF7 for the first time and I prefer it over all of the earlier ones. I think it's great fun and I'm having a good time. I just couldn't get into the earlier ones...they're just plain boring in my opinion. FF8 is also fun, I probably prefer it over FF7.

                        About Star Ocean 3...

I can't compare it to the others because I havent really played them but I really liked Star Ocean 3, mostly because of the battle system and all of the optional dungeons you can do, as well as the inventing system which I personally enjoyed. And the music...people like it but I COMPLETELY hate it. The guitars make my ears bleed.

                            What.

Final Fantasy 6 = best linear RPG ever made. You have compelling characters, a good story, and a decent combat system. Final Fantasy 7 was Final Fantasy 6 again, but in 3d, and with horrendous characters, a really terribly bland plot and a crappy localization effort. Seriously, the plot was SO predictable, and even from a stylistic standpoint, no one really stood out to me. I mean, people oogle Sephiroth, but he's a gay-looking Alucard in my opinion. Cloud just looks like an emo ***, and the whole Girls-Who-Have-Extremely-Large-Tits thing doesn't a good character make.

                            Blech.

The best linear RPG is, of course, Xenogears, which takes the top spot in many other categories as well, including story, music, game in general, Squaresoft game, etc.

The best FF game is, of course, FFT. Everybody loves FFT. L.i.t.t.l.e.m.o.n.e.y and all that.

The best main FF game is, of course, FF6. Everybody loves FF6. Moogles, espers, and all that.

All of the 3D FFs are either average (FF8 and FF10) or bad (FF7, FF9, FF11), except for FF12. FF12 is actually pretty good.

                                Just for fun, I'll rank the FFs. I used to be a huge FF fanboy, so I know what I'm doing. FFT > FF6 > FF12 > FF4 > FF5 > FF8 > FF10 > FF9 > FF7 > FF3 > FF1 > every other game ever, including objects that aren't games > FF2 > the worst thing in the universe > FF11
