Tetris 2 for Nintendo turned Tetris into a Dr Mario clone. They reverted back to the classic formula after, though.

And I played SO3 for a while. About ten or so hours (I wasn't that good) and got really, really into it when I found out that you had to fight God to beat the game.

      SPOILERS

Untils I found out the huge lame twist. I quit the game 2 hours after that because it became maddeningly frustrating.

LOZ- The windwaker gave me a horrible taste. The cartoon shading was awful, but I bought it because I am a faithful LOZ fan. I am so glad nintendo went back to Link's traditional look in Twilight princess.

Also, the whole combo sword hit thing was about as retarted as the series could get. It took all the skill away from fighting enemies. Simply contine to hit the A button and 50% of your enemies are dead in one attack run.

This nearly killed LOZ for me and I'm a die-hard fan of the series. I can only hope for Twilight princess to come out so I can shunt windwaker to the side like a bad memory and pretend like it never came out.

@ moogy not liking LOZ-Ocarina of time is like not liking Metriod Prime wtf Is wrong with you xD

I didn't like Majoras mask a ton either. It was more of a Meh game for me.

PS: Sword use while riding on your horse = awesome.

How could you say Doom 3 is in this thread? D3 is a perfect example of taking what was already a scary ass game, revamp it and make it even more kick ass. I mean come on, the game wouldn't have even been scary if you had the ability to have the flashlight and gun at the same time. You big wimp. >:3

Oh, alright. So by taking it back to its roots, you don't mean the crap load of games that came out pre OoT. You know, the actual roots.

I never said roots, I said more traditional look, which for me is Oot beause that was the game that really brought me into the series.

Being a old NES fanbay, I disagree on that. the first MG was the best action game on the system. now the US ver. of MG2 was a bloody piece of crap.

FF8 was one of the greatest travesties to ever occur to video gaming. Not only was it a terrible game, but it stole funding from Xenogears, which was a much better game.

I disagree with Moogy about FF9. I rather enjoyed that game and have been contemplating replaying it.

@ Chromer: Doom was meant to be scary? It was meant to be a bad-ass guy taking on the legions of Hell. I don't remember it being frightening at all. Also, it's not so much the needing a flashlight thing as it's just a bad idea, from a conceptual standpoint, to make the player helpless. I was scared more by some of the stuff in HL2 than I ever was from Doom 3, anyway, AND I never felt helpless in the process. (Ravenhold, flying black headcrabs that reduce you to 1 health. SCARY.)

Hey those Brown pixelated Imps scared me in 1990.

And that's what Carmack was trying to do wth D3. I admit, D3 is an action-packed shoot-em-up, but let's be honest: You really think having demonic voices laughing at you while you read a message on the wall in BLOOD not be scary? I wish I had your nerves.

I couldn't really stand Zelda games after OoT. Yeah, I'm referring all of those.

The stuff that scares me is when you're plodding along in an FPS game is anything with a high pitched screach which appears out of nowhere. The stuff in Doom didn't do much for me. The little children ghost thingies in P.R.E.Y. on the other hand, even when I've been looking at them for a good 10 minutes, still freak me the **** out every time they fly towards me.

It's not that I have steel nerves more along the lines of Doom 3 just didn't work for me. I freak at the weirdest stuff. The stuff which truly frightens me isn't what shocks you outright. It's the stuff that is absolutely ghastly which continues to creep along despite your best efforts. Like, for an example, I have a recurring nightmare ever since I was a child where I'm laying on some table thing and there's a giant spiked grate thing that slowly lowers and lowers. On the other side of the gate are some howling creatures that are really hard to describe, but they have human faces and are in a state of absolute glee as they look down salivating, then the grate finally jabs into me and they start to eat me then one just stares at my face and that's usually when I start to scream IRL even if I don't wake up. (I should say that me remembering dreams at all is rather rare, and it's been a really long time since this has happened to me.)
