Here's hoping the sequel / prequel to Baten Kaitos doesn't suck.

      I agree.

Personally, when I found out .hack// was four games long I ditched the series midgame.

Hmm. The only one I can think of right now would be...

Shining Force Neo: What the hell were they thinking? They turned it from a Tactical RPG to an Action RPG. Shining Force I and II were extremely fun (I've never played III), and I was disgusted at what they've done to a great series.

Materia made your guy, so the particulars of who was fighting became largely unimportant unlike previous FF games). I don't know of a whole lot of people that started with previous FF installments that particularly care for this installment. If it was my first exposure to the series, I might have liked it, I admit.
The first FF I've played was FF4. And it remains as my favorite.

Re: Sequels that ruined the spirit of the Franchise

Warcraft 2 was pretty good. Starcraft was amazing.
Warcraft 1 and 2 were both pretty craptastic. Starcraft WAS amazing, though. The thing that makes SC so good and WC1/2 so bad is that the sides are VERY unique. Any dumbass can balance an RTS game by just making the sides exactly the same (except 2 units...barely), but to make a well-balanced game with THREE very different sides was pretty revolutionary. Hell, SC even manages to have pretty good in-house balance (ie: 1000 minerals worth of one zerg unit will be about as good as the same cost as 1000 minerals worth of another zerg unit).

And I wouldn't say WC3 ruined the spirit of the original. It just drastically changed the general style of the game by making it more hero-oriented. I, personally, don't like heros, but they are more and more being implemented in RTS games (like in C&C you get Tanya and such). Some people like the hero thing, others don't. But regardless, WC3 improved tons in the area of UMS games, which, IMO, is one of the biggest reasons to play -Craft games online.

But all this talk of RTSes makes me really mad at C&C: Generals. I don't see how EA can even put the C&C label on that ****. They ****ing ruined the whole story thing that C&C had going for it. EA in general just ****ing pisses me off.
So I've gone completely slack-ass and haven't done any work on creating games. =(

In less-depressing news, I got a job for an online business (which sells non-electronic games, of all things!) which has taught me a lot about marketing online and all that jazz.

So now I'm on Twitter @NoahWright.
And I write the blog for their website.

Plus I do cool programming in-house that you'll never see. =O

Quite easily the best moments in Sunshine were when Mario didn't have FLUDD and he ran through a classic Mario-esque stage, but that doesn't mean I think that because the other game didn't have FLUDD it was better. You're going to kill me for saying this, but I found Super Mario 64 to be only mediocre, and I was relieved that Super Mario Sunshine wasn't too bad and more enjoyable.

Oh, those are both pretty good games IMO. I guess you just don't like SRPGs.

                ddr mixes

ps2 ddr max and max2 were great.

ddr exteme was crap but still somewhat enjoyable (due to songs like A, maximizer and lom)

ddr extreme 2 was pure sewage. even songs like sakura and be lovin couldnt help that steaming plie of horse manure...

Good. Maybe when gamecube is all dead and out I can pick it up cheaply at some place on the Internet. I paid like $20 for the original one brand new, so I shouldn't have a problem getting that or lower for the prequel.

Maybe this time I can learn how to actually use the cards correctly by element and not just by number.

i'd have to say Star Wars Battlefront II

i felt that #1 had a lot more space in the levels, and in #2, bombing raids were a hassle. it always bounces your ship back into the given area, while in number one you could fly around for a certain amount of time, and THEN fly back in

#2 may have space battles and Jedis, but i think #1 is still better by far

Did any one here play the Bushido Blade games for PS1??? The first one was ok but needed a sequel REALLY BAD but the sequel was more on the lines of another movie with the same actors. that sux more then KH, FFT, or even the new Sonics (and that's scary..)

And to KGz----What you say about MMX goes, X4 was the last good one ever.

I liked X5 and X6. They weren't stellar, but they were playable. I oddly enough like them more going back to play them than I did my initial playthrough with the game. X7 was one of the biggest travesties to ever occur to a loved franchise, ever. If it wasn't for the fact that the Megaman Zero games were so ****ing rad-tastic sex-like objects of my affection, I would have lost faith in the entire series (which for me, is saying a lot.)

                            @ Chromer:

How can you not like Tales of Symphonia? I agree that Tales of Eternia was the better game, but Symphonia is just brilliant in and of it's own right.
