I actually wouldn't be opposed to an "old stuff" genre that'd get the really offsync stuff from every non-classical non-secret non-purchased genre.

But no, we're not resyncing them. It's part of the history of the game, and as Guido said, I doubt there are more than a handful of people that are getting turned off by the relatively tiny number of offbeat songs in the game. Dance1 has FOUR offbeat songs...and the rest are onbeat (perhaps not perfectly synced, but that's a far more minor issue). Honestly, I could understand if it was like half of Dance1, but it's FOUR SONGS in the 40+ song genre that most new players are going to start out in. It's really not going to make a big difference in the long run to almost anyone.

who cares about history... i'd like all the songs to be uniform... all on sync, all noteskinned, etc. most of old ****ty offbeat songs are the ones that aren't very hard, so that's what the new people play, regardless of where they are in the genre.

Couldnt someone resync them? And is it just me, or do some d1 songs have gallops? Im not sure of theyre supposed to be jumps or not, but those piss me off when I try to AAA it.

Just like with any other song on FFR: practice and you'll get it. Yes, many jumps are actually gallops, but that didn't stop me from comboing them all, and I'm not even very good at FFR!

Two years ago when I joined there was way less than half the number of songs that there currently are (I think there was maybe 2 1/2-3 pages in dance and 0-1 in the rest.) But, I remember playing Chrono trigger JUST to see how far I could get in the song...It didn't matter to me how off sync it was or how bad the steps were. Hell even moonlight sonata is TERRRIBLY off sync but that didn't make me not want to play it. The game itself is what I was interested in. Yeah some songs could be resynced and could be remade...but IMO it's not needed.

... Synth is big on historical preservation, and probably wouldn't like to see his own files (they may not be high quality for various factors, but hey, way to call the site owner's files ****ty and tell him to remove them from his game) taken out.

Maybe in 3rd Stlye we could have a options page were you could pick "oringanal" or "re-sync"? it would be hell for Jason to code, but maybe he has a holiday coming up?

Anyone can make a V2 of any song they would want re-sync. (different steps of course)

So if you want to play the song, re-step it, make it on sync, send it to Tass, wait for it to get accepted (if it isn't crap) then play it, on beat, same song, have fun. =)

Even though the Moderators don't care about one person, I kind of like the overstepped files. Also, Chrono Trigger is a good song, just not good steps. Maybe for 3rd style they can fix the old songs to make them...better? That's just an opinion, but don't fix up fun songs like Molto Vivace, Revolutionary Etude, or Grand Gallop Chromatique -- all good overstepped files to me =)

Or I can make a V2 of Chrono if you will accept it in Stepmania form, I'm a decent simfile artist, not the best, but decent.

I have been wanting to resync the offbeat files, but now that I see that they're not being changed for historical preservation, I agree. I am going to continue to make sure that the files that are released in the future ARE onbeat. As for 3rd style, I will also make sure every single file is onbeat. I don't know what we're doing with 3rd style level admins. I don't even know if there will be any, but for 3rd style you guys (admins) are going to have to let me do what I do best. Syncing.

I like the idea of a separate genre for all the offbeat songs. That way, history is preserved, new players that want to play synced songs can find those songs, and you can probably combine the hip hop and funk genres.
