    ok then

    Hip-Hop -> Drum'n Bass (or Breakcore)
    Funk -> Jazz
    No Misc 2.

We need to count the # of Jazz/DnB songs (roughly).
If it's reasonable amount I'll moving songs first, then velocity will fix the engine.
Actual Funk/Hip-Hop songs will be in Misc (maybe not until total genre fix).

I plan to put the genre data in excel and see if I can sort out the proportion of various genres.

i would rather see DnB instead of breakcore. dont see the point in having a jazz genre since i can only recall a handful of oster project songs when i think jazz.

There's no doubt more stuff that could fit in there.
Washamanoose, Improv et Chien, GOSW, Ska Cha Cha, Crazy Hair Day, Sunny Side Up, etc.

Also I'm sure if there was an explicit jazz genre people would step jazzy songs more often they already step them more often than hip hop or funk

            Either Jazz or Pops.

Jazz is at least more popular than Hip-hop here currently so it might work.

                  Re: Ingame Song Information

From the excel data I've gathered:

                  23 8-bit/chiptune songs
                  33 breakbeat songs
66 ___-core songs (note: frequently intermixed with other genres)
20 dance songs (note: majority is intermixed with euro or pop)
                  34 drum'n bass songs
                  32 euro songs
                  7 gabba songs
                  13 house songs
                  18 jazz songs
                  56 pop songs
                  27 rave songs
                  131 techno songs
                  87 trance songs

Solely by the numbers, this suggests that there should at least be individual categories for dnb, techno, trance, and pop. Other genres don't have as many songs, but may still merit a category. All the songs have to go somewhere.

NOTE: there may be some cross-mixing of genres. For example, {Colossus} has a song style of Breakbeat/Trance, or Story of Snowman and Sunshine Girl has a song style of Eurotrance.
NOTE2: there are many other songs with various other genres not listed in my findings...I didn't tally every song

From bmah's statistics, breakcore(dnb) and pops(or jazz/pops) might be reasonable.

In terms of initial letters, b and j are better.

                          How about:

                          Breakcore/DnB/Breakbeat/Breaks/Gabba/ [Initial B]

                          &

                          Hardcore/Techno/J-Core/House/Rave/Trance [Initial T]

                          &

                          Pop/Jazz/Swing/Euro (maybe house)? [Initial J]

8bit/chiptune i'm undecided - Keep misc for stuff like that?

Also, we need to start moving chiptune songs OUT OF arcade... just because something sounds like it's from a videogame doesn't mean it's from one. (unless arcade is intended for that which I see as non-beneficial)

                            Hardcore/Techno/J-Core/House/Rave/Trance is ok with Dance.
                            Classical should be Classical/Instrumental.

"Arcade" just doesn't fit other genre classifications, also it doesn't make sense for non well-known games. It could be a genre for 8bit/16bit.

I think we could do well putting both game music remixes and arcade-sounding stuff (i.e. 8bit) in the Arcade genre. It's not perfect, but it's better than either making a new genre or dumping it into Misc.

It would be really cool if the song styles for Arcade genre songs could say the game the music is from. TGWP-like medleys can have "Various Games" and arcade-sounding stuff can have "8bit" etc.

In a couple weeks I'll start reclassifying some of the song genres in the arcade section. Some music is truly 8-bit/chiptune/game music, but a lot of them are remixes of a different genre altogether, from metal to techno.
