I think this is somewhat a thing because regular users who are neither mods or part of some form of staff are left somewhat in the dark of the inner workings of FFR and the like, lol. (This also includes users who are friends with staff and the like)

Not a circlejerk but I can see it being called that I guess, dohoho.

A simple assessment of how much music would have to be taken down in the process will reveal that this method doesn't work at all. Just because osu! gets away with infringing copyrights because their user community is highly irresponsible and doesn't care about the music they upload doesn't mean that FFR should do the same thing.

I also don't understand where certain users get off by saying that the development team has done nothing; a new game engine has been added to the game and it is very regularly used by the community now. Don't assume that I am talking about the active community either: a brief glance at the recent gameplays on the front page will indicate an overwhelming majority of users who use the newest engine that FFR has, which presents the capability of running at higher framerates, increased song speeds, and more precise offsetting.

Claiming that there's some sort of circlejerk between the development team is also largely incorrect, given that a huge majority of updates to the game engines have been done at user request in threads.

You are allowed to have an opinion, but it should at least be a valid one.

I never said buy music :S I said the music is of poor quality but that's due to legal stuffs, meaning it's pretty hard getting metallica's authority to use there back catalogue but a hell of a lot easier getting it off some dude on soundcloud with 100 followers.
But why can you accept donations for a tournament but not to develop the site, because both are essentially profiting from doing so, either by giving users an incentive to come to the site with the competition or by having a website from this decade.

I never said the developers aren't doing anything, they are! but the hurdles they have to jump through to get something implemented is utterly retarded. The developers we have are great, congratulations you all have amazing talents. I and everyone else appreciate you dedicating your free time to this website, but having said that. They can only do so much with the constraints they have.

The engine, thank you. Again amazing work but the lag ruins it, it's not just me. It's a pain in the arse to get it lag free regardless of how many computers i play on and that's going to be a massive reason new people wont return. The engine is great, really is i like it but other platforms offer better performance now a days. The skys the limits, you have the developers use them and i wasn't bad mouthing the developers with my previous post. I was talking about how things happen on FFR on the management side.
I know all the developers are great, they are insanely skilled and imaginative but from the impression they give off they have to go through so much shit to get anything on the website unless it's a simple, slot this into the existing slot we have here or such a minor addition it doesn't change a thing, to some the twitch feed great, handy little widget. Websites still shit though, just has a twitch widget now...

Again, to clarify. Development team<3 The management of FFR's future</3

Well, again, my opinion and i've tried clearing it up.

depends how things work out. i think the people who care about the game will likely come here, especially if the kong community sucks, which it probably will. the kong version could also have mp, which would be both communities combined.

Apparently, "OSU does not actively search for instances of copyright infringement" but "does respond to complaints of illegal activity of inappropriate use taking place on the OSU network." Also : "When a copyright holder discovers an instance of illegal file sharing originating from the OSU network they will send an official take-down notice to OSU."

I just couldn't resist posting about this, but... you did notice the page you linked is Oregon State University and not Osu! the rhythm game? XD Not saying that the general policy isn't similar or anything, just had a good laugh.

in the past this statement was incorrect, yes. in the present (past few months) it's because changes to the website have been what i perceive to be "duck tape" solutions to specific problems, no major overhauls that FFR really needs.

this is all well and good but you can't deny that FFR the game and the website would be updated much more frequently with more developers

                            - donations for a tournament are accepted because they're not being kept as resources for the site; the funds are being passed right back into the community

                            - you are 100% correct about the platforms the engines run on, Flash absolutely sucks for performance and it's a pretty well known fact, sadly.

                            - yes, the site is dated but unfortunately, there are a lot of settings tied into the current structure of the site and it's not easy to do with limited resources; reaching out for developers is something that is very doable, but finding people that are qualified is a whole other thing
