Re: Skill Rating & Leaderboards Discussion [Updated Feb 17]
I've said it before, but all these extra stats and rankings really are pretty meaningless until the game's biggest problem (combo scoring) is addressed
Re: Skill Rating & Leaderboards Discussion [Updated Feb 17]
Just wondering if the system take into account users that have the same number of points. For example, shadow and Dossar have both 9,430 and should be tied for 3rd place.

Skill rating is only rounded down to the nearest whole number for display on the leaderboards so it is a more palatable number. Your skill rating is a floating-point number which can only be tied if another player has the same best scores on the same difficulty songs, or by a coincidental mathematical anomaly.

i know you accumulated data from the tourney or whatever but.....
im just curious
The coefficients came from a polynomial regression, which is a way of fitting a curve to a set of points. The points used came from some data that Prawnskunk had that is used during division placement. It's a list of score equivalencies, like a AAA on a difficulty 38 is equivalent to 13 goods on a difficulty 45 (I just picked random numbers here). This set of information was generally agreed-upon by the division placement staff, and proved to be the simplest and most accurate way of making a formula.

For years. I don't think I've ever asked this before; is there some technical reason that combo scoring is still a thing (that is, beyond a better replacement than raw score, and the computational load of calculating it) or is it just "it's always been done this way" or an argument along those lines (not trying to strawman you guys, just talking about inertia)?
Re: Skill Rating & Leaderboards Discussion [Updated Feb 17]
So I must be a broken record because I'm sure other people have stated this earlier; Will there be a change to how certain scores are easier to get points in compared to others?
Currently my Skill rating is artificially boosted by short songs with high difficulty that has relatively easy patterns for 90% of the song and a small spike of hard notes that can be done in under 20 goods.
