I'm not really the best at reading comprehension here so, it feels like it's more meaningful for me to try to actively post with others and go by guts even if I end up being wrong because it creates spontaneous interactions which is usually enough to solve me at a high % by middle game.

We don't even know who would be considered "inactive" at this point considering there is still so much time left in the phase. It's weird to even be talking about this. I know "inactives" are always a topic of conversation for some reason but for all we know all 13 of us will have been plenty active by the time the phase ends

I liked where you went after, or rather, the energy of it

it is just philosophy, like I can counter that villagers are a lot worse than people would think they are at finding wolves in a random set (I know it isn't a random set), but I do not share your optimism on town's chances simply upon the nature of the setup alone


For example, town won last game entirely because of mechanics, both because town used them very well and because wolves used them very poorly (sry raeko I know u were busy when lar fruited me)

obviously only time will tell, and to answer your question more directly, no, it isn't a dangerous line of thought now that I see what you were cooking (I guess I can be wrong but that's me being a weenie)

So I think I missed that quote but I did read a lot of last game. I do get what you mean, in that for a good few years, I remembered every game, everyone I played with, and it was a big deal to me to pay attention to what I could do better the next time and not lose the same way twice. Now, I think I have played with Ben twice, but I do not even remember which alignment he was, just kind of a vibe he gave me at this stage.

The reason it was even of note to me that you did not vote, is there was some game that was the only game I played with Daiyiki(?) and he called out Xel like immediately for accusing somebody and not voting them, and it was one of those where I liked that he had that idea but didn't agree, but then Xel really was a wolf that time.

I don't know if I should be optimistic. That is kind of what I am asking, is did we all just sign up for a setup that we do not actually think is balanced? Or do we accept the task at hand and want to embrace the unique scenario that this, where it could be possible that openness is our advantage? I love to hate this game, Greg, I think you will understand what I mean by that.

there are things we normally have to dance around because of the existence of blues. because we have no blues, we COULD basically go extremely off the cuff with everything and be more open about emotions and thoughts than usual.

They can do that too. It is just an example. It does happen in a regular game; that's how I can predict this future. The through line there is to do with morale and the fact that even though we do not have blues, we will have card flips, and we will have many tools in the late game to get back at the wolves even if we do not get out a wolf on day 0 for example, as long as people are actually posting and trying.

I got what you meant and revised my take on the original post when I realized (on proper reading) that you meant the absence of blues and were basically going down a train of thought on that. This setup, Mountainous, was one of my favorites when I used to actually play, and I agree with your take on the benefits vs cons.

The thing I don't agree with is with your take that this:

is in any way different than a regular game. Wolves can always do that (but are more likely to actually steer town further down the wrong path), and town will always get those posts to look back on and infer information from.

That part seemed like fluff cause it's just a generic description of TWG as a whole, kind of like:

"Mafia is an information game where the informed minority can look helpful by correcting the uninformed majority when they're wrong, but each post that the informed minority makes leaves breadcrumbs that can come back to bite them when more information is available to the majority!"
