I think that the sheer amount of practice that it takes to improve is the major obstacle. For instance, I have 25 million notes hit on FFR right now and I'm barely in D7. Matthia, on the other hand, has over 39 million notes hit and he's well into D8. That means I'd have to practice another 340 ish hours to even have a remote chance at getting near that skill level. You also need to be very consistent and know how to practice effectively, which is very time consuming and hard to keep up with.

Furthermore, what's the reward for putting in all that effort? A number on a website and maybe one day of glory/recognition from the community lmao. The opportunity cost of pushing the limit from D5/6 to D7/8 is massive.
