If you want transparency, I encouraged defining Staff Roles to be more specific and started up a rewrite of site rules but nobody else seemed to contribute.
Silvuh and I have been working together on the batch, both automating it and keeping track of files and so forth, and he's on vacation until the 13th and I allowed the judges to start judging the second half of the batch to get back on track -- the first half displayed a good pace at two and a half weeks and I want it to stay that way. With AJ coming in frequently about issues he doesn't even have control over (like the code implementation for the D7 final round to become a token) I think you can imagine how aggravated that makes Staff members like me feel. I don't even know who is supposed to be managing the front page posts either -- I've seen them previously written by Popadopalis, OWA, Xiz, hi19hi19, TC_Halogen, and several others, but there isn't any clear plan on who is supposed to be handling front page posts. Silvuh and I are handling the batch and getting in contact with users to reduce errors in the batch and make the process smoother. As much as I would like to help, some situations are out of my control and more importantly there is a lack of specifying who is supposed to do what and lack of accountability. Silvuh and I made a dedication to the batch and we want it to catch up, and I'm sick of seeing inactivity on other parts of the site when there is supposedly staff assigned to it.

I won't respond to your points about judging because I'm available to judge for the next n amount of batches lol

Since then, some things have happened on both sides that are good. The events team independently held a number of spontaneous contests for the tournament, and they also revived the Halloween banner contest design, which I admittedly did not do as manager a year ago. There's much more to come on that side in the upcoming weeks, and months. Game management has done a good job modifying my intentional structural change to the batch process to be suitable for smaller numbers of judges. Silvuh took charge with the process of conditional files, as well as organizing the results on batch completion, and initially, also took charge for the organization of a batch that came after a horrendously concluded May/June batch done by myself. Dossar has automated a great majority of the batch system thanks to an API that handles a ton of parsing of information to prevent manual entry, thereby reducing errors and making the process faster through programmatic means. I stepped down from game management and events management in full confidence that they could handle things on their own, and contrary to what anyone believes, those three users have done a great job taking over and I will very strongly defend them and their causes. If it wasn't for Silvuh/Dossar coming in, the judgments would likely still be halted. If it wasn't for Kayla coming in, the Events team likely would be sitting silently as they had been under my terrible leadership (either that, or revolted against me -- both would have worked quite well honestly). On the flip side, I switched to a more immediate and case-by-case responsibility of global moderation for two reasons: a.) I wanted to deal with things as they came, and b.) I actually had the power/authority of global moderation as a Game Manager already, and was actually using the power to deal with certain cases regardless of not really being responsible for it. |

Here's an idea -
Why not put Philippe (Noname219) in charge of updating the front page? If you look at the recent & past FFR Wiki updates you would know why I would recommend such a thing. He's one of the most dedicated people I've ever seen on this website imo. He's scrounging the resources of what's happening on this website manually by himself without any interaction as it is right now. |

Maybe we should consider a small news feed for everything that happens in the community (new permissions, new tournaments, new twgs, user promotions, site improvements, etc.). Just a line of text and a link to keep players informed about that kind of thing. It would make the front page feels more active than it is right now. And it could be posted at the same time on the Facebook page. I've been doing that for 8 months on the wiki. It's easy to update, doesn't feel like a burden and very convenient.
edit : ninja'd. edit2 : not saying I should be in charge. Every staff member could take part of it, one could be in charge of TWG, another of events, etc.

While noname is naturally being modest about being nominated for being in charge (also bringing up another good point), I would pick him too, he's been working on that Wiki for ages, and something as simple as FPPer would fit right in with his work/abilities. If he's up for it, I would +1 him in.
Also ayyy anyone remember that changelog lol

Oh and I'm not saying a news feed should replace FPP. They could totally go hand in hand.

Well we all know the problem so lets get that initiative to solve it! YAY!
I also nominate noname, he would be boss at it. And hell if he is busy for a week or two or ten or what not, there are literally 5 others who would put it up no prob. (I think another side issue with that is how the access to the FPP is limited to like, just what OWA and Halogen? I don't know. Loosen the reigns captain! haha)

just so that people don't begin to assume that I'm a liar:
- I am going to release two songs tonight: one of which will break the token wall on CirnoRHTL; I coded the token already, but I want to double-check that I have the most updated file since hi19 and I have traded files left and right and I can't remember what the most updated version is. I don't want to take any chances. - When I get in touch with Velocity/arcnmx, I'll request one of them to do the code for pushing Hatsune Miku no Shoushitsu -Gekijouban- back to tokens with the 89+ AAA requirement (i.e. "super scarhand"). - I would also like to see if I can get them to enforce retroactivity on the milestone unlocks (Scarhand [s], Otaku [H], Otaku [O], Scarhand [H], Miku), so that anyone who has AAA'd a song within these ranges can get the token as well. This was a discussion between Rob and myself before I stepped down and before Silvuh/Dossar were added to GM, and I would like to continue that. The token paywall issue is my fault and I'll try to resolve that as well. |

Before I left staff the first time I asked if I could do a weekly what's happening front page post. Never got the go ahead for it. I wanted to include user run events, new things going on with development and such.
I might just go ahead and start doing it. There were a lot of ideas I had that never came to be because it was hard to get approval from all the staff. |

This is something I've always wanted to do too, except I'm realistic about the fact I just don't have the time or motivation to do it consistently during the schoolyear.
