Isn't there a way to make it all look like XP again? I mean, I have XP but it looks like all the older versions of Windows. When I finally get a new computer that will undoubtedly come with Vista, I'll prolly get it to look as much like <WinXP as possible. I don't need a flashy OS. Hell, I purposely close explorer.exe all the time because it's useless sometimes but decides to lag up my whole computer.
PS: Tokzic, in case you didn't do it all right, you have to calibrate the voice recognition stuff to understand your voice. Like, I tried it one time on XP and it had you read these stories to train it. If you try to use somebody else's trained voice recognizer it fails pretty hard. =\

So I've gone completely slack-ass and haven't done any work on creating games. =( In less-depressing news, I got a job for an online business (which sells non-electronic games, of all things!) which has taught me a lot about marketing online and all that jazz. So now I'm on Twitter @NoahWright. And I write the blog for their website. Plus I do cool programming in-house that you'll never see. =O |

Its common sense not to use an OS when it just came out with all the bugs and errors etc.

Aero uses a fair bit of CPU & GPU resource, which undoubtedly affects running applications compared to XP (especially windowed graphics apps). It's driver model is difficult for hardware manufacturers, which makes for problematic drivers (hard to know whether to blame MS or the cheapo hardware companies for this) - leads to instability on many machines. Suggested performance advatages seem fairly specious. DirectX10 is nice, but pure BS marketing for it to be Vista only. Not to mention that Vista phones home a hell of a lot, and is stuffed with DRM.
Vista needs a year or so before becoming a mature, generally useful OS. I would avoid for the moment - use a dual boot if necessary... Last edited by MRichards; 09-11-2007 at 01:08 AM.. |

I don't think the price is worth it. Everyone... stick to XP.

Actually, from a technical standpoint, Vista is better.
