I think this is what we should be discussing: The difference between a newb and a n00b (FYI: noob = n00b.). This seems to be the point of confusion for the original poster of the topic anyway. A newb is simply a new user. Polite, interested, open to advice and willing to try their harderst to advance themselves in both the game and the forums. (IE: Me. =] ) A n00b is someone who stereotypically uses poor nettiquitte, is immature and annoying, and trolls for fights. I didn't read the urban dictionary article, but I'm sure that MORE than covers it. (That site always does. What would we do without it? Ask embarassing questions, that's what.)

Yeah why/how the hell is this in CT? Definition of words really isn't critical thinking, unless they have such varied connotations on different ends of the spectrum. A noob is someone who is new to something and goes to the "pros" for help or advice. It is all part of the hierarchy of the Internet in general. There has to be a scapegoat for everything, and that is what a noob is.

Uhh.. if you want a semi-serious response, the answer is that it varies. In the forums is could mean someone who's new and doesn't know how things work here. In game it could just mean you suck. In chat it could mean that your spelling/grammar is atrocious.

What 'sucks', is 'decent', or is 'really good' varies from person to person. I can tell you right now that you really suck at SM compared to myself (based on you're telling us about your scores). On the other hand, compared to people like Zagh or Shash I suck ass.
