I will be back for ot18
update: congrats to myself as well for top 8, I've still got a shot in this tournament :D OT17 Map ReviewPosted on: July 18, 2024, at 05:01:21pm [ 1 comment] (yea I'm calling these maps)
Group 3/Bracket 3/Division "there may not be anyone with a skill level at low 70s but the skill level combined with the maps being about the same difficulty as OT16's Division 4 definitely makes this deserving of being Division" 4
Round 1: Jade Star - Mipha & jh05013 [0-0-0-0]
Pretty chill and easy map, mostly remember it as a consistency chart with light js and a very short 24ths section. Nearly speed ran submitting a AAA score for this round when I black flagged sight read.
Round 2: Odin - Elite Ninja & jh05013 [1-0-0-0]
Got this run on the first day then never got within 3-4 rgs of it since. All I can say is that triple jacks on my left index finger are pain.
Round 3: Tired - EppuJoloZ [4-0-0-0]
I'm tired of the 32nd bursts at the start. I don't apologize for that pun. Rest of the map is pretty interesting and varied.
Round 4: Frozen One - Pizza69 [13-0-1-0]
(rip fc)
It was thankfully not PLANETZ patterns. 200bpm triplet patterns and the streams were pretty inconsistent, and somehow above score was done on first day. I hope I'm not getting skill capped yet.
Round 5: Ichirin - jh05013 [11-1-0-4]
I'm not skill capped yet. idk how I even pulled that score off with the jumping jacks section directly followed by whatever the dense hand stream cluster is. It might be possible to push further, if I can then I finally get BUBBLES v2 out of the #1 spot in my top plays, which would be very cool.
Round 6: The Audacity - Pizza69 [46-2-1-6]
Yea, I might finally be skill capped now. As of writing this there are still 2 more days left for me to improve to 22 rg, but the density of the patterns is at the point where I pretty much pray I hit them, let alone accuracy. All that's left now is to just give it the best shot until the end, but even if I go out here, I'd say it's been a pretty good run.
Update: yep it's snowlucariover in 7th place. I managed to drop from 53.2 rg to 29.4 rg, but cutoff is 14.8 rg and yea there's 20 minutes left, but my fingers are dead. GGs to top 5, all of you are very strong competitors and idk who will win this OT.
Round 7: Creep - Fission [102-9-10-33]
(I'll still ghost last two rounds for fun since I got pretty close to the end anyways. This map is probably 80+ diff though so I might be a wee bit screwed.)
update: yea idk how to hit the dense parts
Bonus Map Review Section for the Group 2 maps I'm playing in the pipi water swim meet (to be updated in round 7 now)
Round 7: Shamshir -rough Pt.2- - Velocity [12-1-0-1]
There is an unrecorded 12-0-0-1 run and theoretically I could push to sub 8.4 rg but I got tired of the map (it is literally jump streams. The entire thing is just jump streams. It tires my hands out.) Frozen Finger Rumble Group 1 Song ThoughtsPosted on: January 17, 2024, at 07:04:21pm [ 2 comments] Very cool first tourney
Round 1: Elesis Theme Song (Future Bass Remix) - Monkeyz [0-0-0-0]
Probably the best way to kick off this tournament. It feels like the sort of map that is easy enough that for a first round but it's still pretty interesting with all the burstier sections. Really liked this one to start.
Round 2: Terra Firma (0.85x) - Mipha [0-0-0-0]
Pretty much where the fun tourney gimmicks started. For a moment I really thought that we'd jump from mid 40's to 61 but 0.85x speed makes this more reasonable. Even then this is a pretty big jump and the jack heavy nature of the chart made this more of a technical challenge.
Round 3: Jumper - Niala [0-0-0-0, 91 perfects]
One of the accuracy challenges of all time because trying to MA triplet swing is some next level of pain. For a while I was having better MA accuracy on group 2 and even group 3's map, and only ended up with the above score when I somehow pulled off a run without rushing/dragging at any point. To put it lightly, this sort of challenge compared to the previous round wasn't exactly a large step up in the normal sense but it still gave me whiplash.
Round 4: Flare - qrrbrbirbel [0-0-0-0]
Pretty standard no gimmick round with a solid map and banger song. I still have no clue how I sightread AAA this.
Round 5: Time and Space (1.5x) - Pizza69 [0-0-0-0]
https://quavergame.com/mapset/map/55873
I see no difference (the difficulty is all one long single stream). A lot of the time spent to try and AAA this was mostly due to the 32nd burst around 430ish combo. Update on this map is fun for MA, just kinda wished something more varied was used for this round.
Round 6: A Firebrand, An Agitator - M0nkeyz [0-0-0-0, 108 perfects]
Acc round like round 3 only the map is not entirely triplet swing, which makes this much easier to MA. Really like this map choice for this round.
Round 7: res extensa v2 (0.95x)- Pizza69 [17-0-1-4]
Practiced it for a few days, then got mind blocked on the mini jump streams in the first half, then found out what the final round's map is. It's a fun map, but also a pretty steep difficulty spike compared to previous rounds.
update: never mind my brain apparently just shuts off around 140-160bpm for some reason; literally 20 minutes after writing this I end up getting a better score on 1.0x speed
Round 8: Bad Apple!! (1.2x)- Psychotik [14-1-1-5]
Somehow hit the 24ths single stream of death and got 20.2 rg FC on the first day. Then my stamina slowly drained over the next few days until as of writing this my hands are basically cooked. These last 3 hours in the tourney are going to be a different form of pain in waiting. | Sorry I haven't been on here much lately. I got super sick and had really bad ear infections. Life was spinning and I couldn't concentrate. Then I tried to come back and it was like I dropped 10 lvl rankings. I suck.... LoL | | I had seen that, I'm kinda glad I got knocked out HAHA | | I seen that. I haven't been on much, I have been pretty sick all week. But I lurked the stream last night. At least your song is short, but it's crazy. Did you see what we got for bracket 3 ? lvl 85 Nya, Death. Excuse me... Lol | | How are you finding this weeks song ? Its pretty gnarly at 1.4 rate LoL | | Hey buddy, hope you are doing well. Congrats on the AAA for this weeks tournament song ! | | Lucario | | Thanks buddy, I will for sure be back next year (Not that I am ever far from the game) LOL | | Congrats on 7th in the tournament buddy ! | | Nice, you did it.
