look at me, i'm a newb!
anywhoo, i've only ever played 1-handed, and i get screwed over royally by up/down quick movement or both at the same time. i've experimented with two hands, but it doesn't feel nearly as fun to play fast bits :3
ah well, maybe it explains why i can barely survive hellbeat, even though my friends can't follow 136.6
i suggest 1-hand if you want to have fun, but otherwise, play a different method.Comment

Yes. You set it up so that (for example) you place your right hand on the arrow keys as a one hander would and then your left on the keys awsd. So usually 6 fingers.Comment

hey... so... um... I'm a total noob, and will probably get flamed for this... but... in your list of stuff, I couldn't see anything that went with my finger-setup... thingy...
Top: right index
Right: right middle
Left: right thumb
Bottom: all, depending on the previously played note
i find this way is really good for chords, but not so good for ladders in a row (i.e left-down-up-right-up-down-left). its not THAT comfortable, but its comfortable enough for me XD
is it handicapping me at all? i find all the other methods feel weird. 'specially the 2 handers.Comment

Well, yes, that is handicaping you.
So far you are the only person I have heard of who plays like that so there is no reason to put it as one of the styles until more poeple start using it.Comment

well, so far ive mastered (not your master, my master) i.e gotten all hits and all perf (with the exception of 1-5 good) on 3 songs only. and all easy/for beginners (soul shift, spontaneous hydroxide... and guess which else... trip to the moon XD). i can get, if i try REALLY hard and im in the zone, to the end of final fantasy. but not a good score.

Eh. For the easier songs like those I can combo them one handed. I even managed an almost AAA on secret zombie room with one finger. >< Switch play styles and practice on some harder songs for a bit, see if you see any improvement.Comment

I tried playing 2 handed once.... I had the hardest time doing some of the easiest levels.... I can hold my own with the 2 handers just fine, and as for the advantages of being a 1 handed player. What if you are using your dominant hand.... the only hand that has any coordination whatsoever in it? My left hand barely has enough hand eye coordination to type... and even then not very well. But anyone who watches my playing one handed is alwas like "omfg... how the hell do you move so fast...." And for a 3 finer, 1 hand style... the down ones are always based on the note before it, and so is the up actually... if I get a trill of up down up down, I use my right index on down and right middle on up...Comment
