Anyone know why Valentines Day is about "love"? The thing about Saint Valentine is confusing because it's about being martyred/executed and I don't really see the connection. And why specifically this guy?

I figure that valentines day is about love because it would be difficult for the greetings card companies to push another day of celebration for martyrdom/execution, seeing that we already have good friday/easter for that.

True, but if you're not even going to bother being romantic on a day that is specifically meant for being romantic, then you probably don't have any idea what you're doing and are going to die alone.

Not quite. Neither me nor my girlfriend specifically celebrate valentines day, because we don't see the point in using one arbitrarily chosen day to be romantic. We do enough nice little things, take breaks away and surprise each other with things at random points throughout the year, so don't feel we need to be told to do it on one specific day just because it's socially acceptable.

Why be romantic for one day the world tells you to when you can do it any other day and really make it a nice surprise? ^_^
