I say you just get one of those prepaid phones if you don't think it's going to be used all that much. Otherwise go with Metro PCS, Cricket, or whatever the equivalent is where you live, because they don't tie you in to a 2 year contract and you just pay monthly for unlimited everything. DO NOT go with ATT. I'm on it and hate it, and pay over $100 a month.

My first phone was not this exact one but looked something like this. I vividly remember that the LCD text was bright-ass orange instead of red like this one. It was already at least 5 years old when I got it but it still worked great.


Now I have an LG touch screen phone that drops at least half of my calls. >_>

Anyway, OP: I recommend you get a prepaid phone from Tracfone or something... those are usually good starters.

I got my first cell phone in 2000, and the current one in 2008 (all of my phones are NTT Docomo ones).

It's time for me to get a new phone I guess (want a smart phone).

Get an AT&T go phone and a decent phone with a full keyboard. That way there's no commitment and you can pay as you go, or simply wait until your account balance hits 0. your choice

I read that in the Wikipedia article. It's usually a signal that there is some type of emergency or a message of urgency (usually used at the job site.)

I have a old, beaten up flip phone that I still use. It works nicely, except for the fact that it occasionally freezes when I view my contacts. I have a iPhone (3G), but I don't have a plan for it. I just use it as if it was a iPod Touch.

Do your algebra beforehand though. "Pay as you go" is only cheaper if you don't use your phone much.

I rarely ever use my phone. The only thing I use it for is to text my girlfriend if she happens to be somewhere I'm not. Which is usually never.
