Re: LimeWire Gets Sued
havent you read their motto? "the biggest file sharing network on the planet" they arent gonna sue everyone that uses it...its not possible...the only way you get caught is if they track your IP address...and the only way they do that is if you upload files...so dont share your files...just take other peoples!sigpic

Re: LimeWire Gets Sued
if we arent allowed sharing our own music that we have bought, then shouldn't the radio be sued?
- the government just wants to take music from our lives and make us miserable.Comment

Re: LimeWire Gets Sued
I swear.
You guys.
Seriously, you need to do a little research.
Radio stations are legal. TV is legal. They get rights from the artists to play their music. I don't even think they have to ask since it's just a broadcast, not a downloadable source. Sure, you can tape it, but it's not a download.
When you buy music, you have a license to make copies of it for yourself and yourself only. You are allowed to rip it to your computer as one form of making copies. You can duplicate the MP3 as many times as you want just to make sure you have a lot of copies. But you don't have a license to give it to anyone else. Legally, you cannot give any of your copies, including the original copy, to anyone else.Comment

Re: LimeWire Gets Sued
Yea Yea yea, what else is new.. Limewire isn't going anywhere, they've got lawyers. The best the RIAA can do is promote the iTunes music store.
Besides, it would be a nightmare for the RIAA to track down every uploader. Whenever they do but someone it's usually the one with the most shares. So relax if you use limwire, chances are you're safe.CVSYM: pay $100 at the Apple store

Re: LimeWire Gets Sued
I don't think RIAA is going to sue everyone who uses Limewire...A large majority of people use Limewire, and if they're going to sue every person who does, then people are going to get pissed... anyway, I'm still keeping Limewire. :]

Re: LimeWire Gets Sued
I can see it now. ""Limewire has been sued. They are convicted of pirating. And look, here comes an angry mob now. Man #1: Give us pirating back or we will cut this stranger's throat. Man #2: Ya, like he said. RIAA Chairman: Oh wait, here is a solution. If someone wants some music, there is always email attachments. No wai. Heh, Yahoo, you will get sued for pirating music. Everyone, back into the courtroom. ""GET A JOB LOSER.

Re: LimeWire Gets Sued
Stepmania's stepfiles aren't legal either. Someone said this earlier in the thread.
They don't sue people, they shut down the means of sharing. Why attack the people when you can attack the source?
Sometimes they do random lawsuits against users but it's quite uncommon these days.
Honestly, you guys act as if this is the first time this has happened. I've written 10-page research essays on this topic and even done public lectures about it for years now. It's not anything new.Comment

Yeah, I guess you're right. Well, I'm still not worried...I know this isn't the first time this happened, and like all the other times, don't you think some guy is going to make another file sharing program?
And there's always torrenting... :]

Re: LimeWire Gets Sued
It probably won't ever stop, but they try to stop the main sources so that they reduce pirating. That's all.
