Andy, it was one of the few times in my life I was yelling at Dallas for f-ing up. Oh well, only 1 person wound up getting that game right.

But, yes... that week was AWFUL. 6-10. But, Still in 3rd place after 2 weeks, only 2 games back. Gotta be thankful for that. Funny that only 2 people have a winning record. Tells ya how hard it is to handicap games.

Omegix: that is because there is this fun this called THE SPREAD that is gamblings attempt to make each game even. Didn't you wonder what those lovely +3.5 or -6 numbers were in the middle, between the two teams? The spread. In the IND v JAX game, IND was favored by 8.5, so they won, but by less than 8.5, therefore if you had bet money on IND, you wouldn't have lost. As opposed to PHI, who was a 12.5 point favorite (as per our line, it went up later in the week), still won, as they won by more than 12.5 points.

The spread can be either your best friend or your worst nightmare. An easier way to think of it is... The Eagles vs San Fran. The entire F-ing country knew the Eagles would beat San Fran. Which means that nobody would have bet on San Fran to win. So Vegas has to do something to get people to bet on San Fran. There are 2 options... the Spread, which then makes the wager a 2:1, or by using odds... Which would be betting on just the winner, without any spread. Bet San Fran for $100, you'd have lost $100, had they won, you'd have gotten something like $350 or $400. Opposite that for the Eagles. Bet the Eagles for $100 and they lose, you'd have lost $400 or so.

Make sense? This is like Sports Gamblings 101, something I know VERY VERY VERY well. 10 years of talking strategy/plays with my father before he made his bets... and also doing a little bookmaking myself over the past few years.
