    Re: Tales of symphonia

I always play this game with 4 people.

    I never tried by myself.

I beat this game 100% like Shash, but took much much longer. I don't remember any details... I played too many Tales games afterwards.

          I have it for PS2.

I don't remember much but I remember liking the graphic style, battle system and found it enjoyable.

            Re: Tales of symphonia

You had a different Tales game then because Symphonia is on the Gamecube and Vesperia has yet to come out and it's going to be on the 360.

                Here's what happened.

Tales of Symphonia comes out in Japan.

Namco localizes Tales of Symphonia for America adding in three hi-ougis (Falcon's Crest, Indignation Judgment, and Holy Judgment) among other additions.

Tales fans in Japan are annoyed that the US got these exclusive additions, so they re-released Symphonia onto the PS2 with more hi-ougis for their fans (and for more money, no doubt, since the Gamecube was a flop in Japan).

                  Re: Tales of symphonia

Tales of symphonia and tales of the abyss are my favorite RPGs ever, i really can't choose which one is better.
ToS has better story and Co-op, but ToA has better characters and gameplay.

i really have fun beating 100% these tales of games, they are not very challenging (unless you do a low level playthrough like i did once) but sure is a heck lot of fun to get every single thing in the game (titles artes/skills, events, etc, etc, etc) i can't wait for Tales of vesperia and tales of symphonia 2.

Friend let me borrow it one time, and it was pretty wicked. I only have like 40 or so hours into it before he wanted it back. Oh well, made him spoil the ending anyways.

Even though I don't have a Wii, looking forward for the new ToS game. =D

                      Re: Tales of symphonia

I actually slightly prefer this to TotA for these reasons:

-LOADING TIMES (most important by far)
                      -Affection levels
-Cooking titles and 100% completion are fair, not the mind-numbingly tedious as **** crap they are in Abyss
-More balanced battle system, Free Run + Moon Selector = dodge everything bye
-Less retarded missability/sidequests which you can only do within a very small time frame. Being able to miss the Collector's Book in TotA is basically unacceptable.

                      TotA has this:
-More mature and believable storyline and characters
-More FUN battle system, despite it making the game really easy
                      -Mystic Artes = awesome

Varying degrees of importance, but ToS slightly edges out for me. The loading times are a HUGE deal, I'm impatient and TotA's are abysmal (har har)

ps randomly, this would be my list of 5 favorite RPG's in order:

                      -Tales of Symphonia
                      -Tales of the Abyss
                      -Might and Magic 7
                      -Might and Magic 6
                      -Morrowind

two amazing linear JRPG's, and then three amazing nonlinear WRPG's. and i've played a LOT of rpg's, though not all of the well known ones or anywhere close...still, no FF game comes close to that list for me

That's because Final Fantasy is horrible.

Never once have they gotten a battle system correct. Considering that's about 40% of the game, it's pretty important.

Then they decided to have a hand in Star Ocean 3 and made the battle system the only thing, neglecting to realize that RPGs are about stories.

ToS2 will have the same load times as Abyss, unfortunately. It's become a new standard to make load times for battles about 1-3 seconds.

                          80% by the way.

EDIT: I'm not even going to argue about the story. You can criticize it as much as you want, but the FF games I've played are 15-20 years old by now and for its time, it had a story that surpassed the average.

This is of course, not true anymore.

For some reason I don't particularly care for this game. It's mainly because I'm the kinda guy who grinds hardcore, and this game doesn't reward that. If you level high, then you kill everything super fast, even bosses.

Also Colette is useless as a battle character.

this statement is so incorrect it's ridiculous

para ball is one of the best techs in the game. also toss hammer is a hilarious way of killing abyssion without doing anything. the only reason colette seems useless is because her AI is ****ing terrible.
